I am considering buying Panasonic GH1. If I am wrong, please correct me, but does the camera comes only with language of the country is being sold? I am in Korea, unfortunately I can exchange/return camera here and sales person doesn't know whether English is an option on it.Can someone tell me yes or no here?
Thanks

I bought my GF1 in Hong Kong three weeks ago. The HK version only has two languages, English and Chinese. From what I have read, the Japanese version only has Japanese. I believe the US and EU models have more languages available on their versions. I expect the G1 and GH1 are the same.

Also, several posters here have said there is NO possibility of changing the firmware to alter the languages availble on the camera in case that is your next thought.

Sorry...

OK, never though of HK, but since is close to Korea, I might as well go there shopping. How would you compare the prices to US? Here GH1 is about USD 1400, which is almost same as US, how about HK? Thanks for your input.

I have a U.S, market GH1 and it has language options of English, French. Spanish and Portugese. I also have a Japanese market G1 and it only has Japanese with no option to change. It's not really a big deal, if you download the English manual you can figure out what all the "squiggles" mean :-)

I bought my 45 macro from a Japanese firm http://made-in-japan.tv They are currently listing the GH1 kit for around US$1200. I am in Australia and had no problems with their service.

I bought my black GF1 20mm kit in HK about three weeks ago. I paid the equivalent of $1000 US. There was basically no negotiating allowed. The price included a 4GB, class 6, SD card, a cheap case, a good screen protector (film type, not glass), and a good sized micro fibre cloth. I bought mine at one of the well-known shops in Mon Kok.

I advise that you call ahead to make sure you find the GF1 in stock because during the past several weeks they have been in and out of stock in HK, especially with the 20mm kit lens. I did this prior to my trip, If I had gone a few days earlier, or later, I would have come home empty handed!

.. the GH1 not the GF1, I know it's a bit unusually here lately to talk about anything with a viewfinder, but there you go ! ;-)

I have the Japanese market GH1 and it doesn't have the option of any other language besides Japanese. AFAIK the Japanese market GH1 is the only one 'locked' into one language. The others have English as well as the home country's language as an option. That being said, the menu is mostly icon driven and offers little challenge to operating it normally.

OK, you saying I might get GH1 in Korea with Korean/English choice? That would be easiest solution, however I still have to find one person here, who could confirm it, either in store or Panasonic Korea. Thanks for this info, I though they are all like the one in Japan.
