"The G3 is very close to the size of the G2, at 4.7 x 2.7 x 3.0 inches (120 x 69 x 77mm), and just slightly lighter, at 17.3 ounces (494 grams) with the battery pack and CompactFlash card installed."

"While this may seem a little H E F T Y when compared to other compact digicams, the G3 is quite manageable..."

Hmm... does it appear to have picked up some heft after all?

it kinda looks like the styling of those square Leica cams. particularly the minilux. Seems the canon people are all hot under the coller over it. hehe.

This just proves that cosmetic/ergonomics and looks plays a huge role in the buying decision.

It doesnt matter how well the car drives, if its ugly as hell no ones gonna drive it. I glad we loooook sooooo good. hehe

Pie Chute: UnCorked
Lens Cap: No dangle at any angle
128mem stick: lost

I think it does in other camera/photograph level.

This one really looks like a brick with buttons but after a deep look at the specs I wouldn’t bother to buy a brick like that!

i agree, def not a cam for me but some may like it like that. Leica's have always been classy looking cameras. Functional and very basic, simple in design but so simple its almost boring. Maybe, just maybe Canon was going for this type of look and feel. With all the other manufacturers coming out with wilder high tech designs it seems Canon wanted to take a step backwards. Retro is in fashion again.

Interesting press release. I've been awhile since another manufacturer beat Sony on the marketing of new buzz words. A new integrated circuit which they needed to name to give it more credence. Not slamming it, like I said it sounds very Sonyesque.

It's a little early to tell but it looks like the same old give and take. Give it a little more noise reduction and take away the detail. Some of the images look a little soft, especially where you look to find the most detail as in grass and distant trees. What was that other camera? One of the Casio's which had an enormous amount of NR creating an almost watercolor look to the images?
