I Just Got this week The 7D and im very happy for the upgrade from the rebel XT 8MP, that i still have and use.

Today y was taking pictures to compare both and i can say that the rebel is pretty much a great camera! i was expecting a leap forward with the 7D. Don't get me wrong it takes excellent pictures but not mind blowing has i was expecting. I'ts true about the mushi look and noise even in low ISO i dont now why?

Can some one help me in this subject. Is it because of the sensor and the cropped 18MP or the setting within the software?
Im using a Tamron 18-270mm IS ( great all around Lens )
Thanks

best settings for sharpness and low noise?

i would say, with a 7D: 30mm 1.2, 50mm 1.2, 85mm 1.2, 135 F2, 200mm F1.8 and 300 2.8,a and for wide angle the tokina 16-24mm 2.8

You cannot use a link like that from your hard drive. You need to post the pictures on some site like flickr or pbase or whatever and then link to that photo here. Or, you can put them on some file downloading site like rapidshare (there are many others) and then put that download link here. The first method ois better for normal jpeg's.

comparin9 the photos you have provided, i would say this:

The Lens can just deliver less than enou9h for Rebel. There is no point in usin9 7D with 18-270 lens. buy a better one.

iburdeinick,

A link to your local disk will not work. You have to upload the images somewhere to the web and post the link here.

Also, in response to your original post, I agree with you that the 350D/XT is a great camera.

One of the big misconceptions with new bodies is that your photographs will somehow be instantly better; the fact is though, is that new features and technology on new bodies are there to help you capture photos you might not have been able to capture otherwise.

In terms of image quality, the Rebel XT is pretty amazing, it's the faster AF, more accurate metering, and better high-ISO performance etc, that gives the 7D the edge.

Congrats on your new 7D, I can't wait for mine to arrive!

How did you compare the photos he provided when he's pasted the path from his local drive?

iburdeinick,

jay kumarr is claiming that the sensor of the 7D outresolves that particular lens.

To put it simply (and I don't know this for a fact because I don't own that lens), the 7D's sensor is basically more capable of showing the optical shortcomings of your lens because of it's resolution than the 350D/XT is.

Again, I don't know if this is true, but that is what jay kumarr is claiming, even though he hasn't seen your photographs as he has claimed.
