What is the best site to sell Olympus gear now?

I saw your posts over at 4/3rds this morning. Due to the time zone I missed out on that. I would have snapped up that E30 in a second.

watched it going through the day R, and was ready to give you a reference if anyone baulked at your arrival with that gear!

hope it goes well for you
photo_owl,

I have "never" done this before ... so, it was an amazing experiance ... in real time. I have not even slept ... all night ... it's 7am here in Hawaii.

Just glad I am not schedualed to shoot today. lol

Thank you ... it went much better than I had hoped ... FAST and painless.
I believe it's best to get it over with Quickly ... and not let it drag on ...

There is stuff there, I really did not plan to sell. :)

And the two really cheap things ... I wanted to get rid of ... no one wants LOL

AbeakerZ,

That e30 was my Favoite body ... and a solid performer.
It hurt to put it all on sale ... that's why I put all of this off.

but, when my new 70-200 f2.8 VR II shipped last week (there was supposed to be a long waiting list!) ... I knew, I was in trouble ... and over budget on my gear LOL

So, something had to be done ... Everyone benifits imho

And it is nice to have had the support of many here on the Olympus forum ... See , at it's CORE ... ALL these Olympus users are "Softeee's" ... really.

Next, we are going to see a whole bunch of dog and baby pics here, posted.
Not that it's a bad thing :) really ... pls, no hate mail.

Seems the Olympus gears has been successful for you, taken you to a further investment level. Hope your new gear will bring you at least as successful on your steps further in your business.

Merry Christmas too!

Thank you, ALL for the Help finding a great place for me to sell my gear.
  • YOU guys and gals are the BEST!!! always have been.
Not only did you help me find a great place to post my gear ... but, by the time I finished posting them all ... it was ALL sold (well, except for the two cheapest items)
AND, I got a lot of emails too ... some funny, ALL supportive. :)
Well it helped that you realistically priced the gear for a quick sale. I've seen some for sale bids up there that are way too high for used gear in comparison to what I can buy new at B&H or Adorama, and the gear just sits.
Now, some might find this hard to believe ... but, there was not a single Olympus user that said , "Just leave" please :)
Given that the buy/sell forum is a separate forum over there, if the grumps don't want to see ads, they don't go there. Given dpreview doesn't have a dedicated forum, it would overwhelm the normal group postings (and after the sale to Amazon, I can imagine that there won't be any temptation to open a gear selling forum that might compete with Amazon marketplace).

Sometimes over there, you can see the postings of the traditional internet slime seller hawking cellphones, etc. before the moderators clean it up.

Thank you, ALL for the Help finding a great place for me to sell my gear.
  • YOU guys and gals are the BEST!!! always have been.
And I needed the money ( did over spend on my FF gear )
... so, speed was helpful lol
THANK YOU ALL ! ... it was a help to me, really ... and I am glad some found some good deals too. win-win.
You might want to close the threads you opened, or indicate in them that the gear is sold. A lot of people over there are still salivating at the prospect of cut-price gear...

I was sort of hoping you'd have a chance to do a 14-35/2 24-70/2.8 shootout before you converter fully, but oh well... Have fun!

Oxheart,

LOL, yes it was amazingly fast.

As I was posting ... my email was filling up ... I had to give up trying to keep up.

fyi: they where fast :)

I am going to have to keep an eye out for when Allen posts a pic. :)
HG
Yeah, a tiny and mostly harmless curse upon Greg & Allen for being so fast to buy the good stuff! :-p

Aloha Knight,
Merry Christmas!

Yes, you said the truth. Olympus Gear has taken me a Long Way!
It "litteraly" gave me the opportunity's I have now.

And I must say ... the 14-35 f2 SWD ... was money for me ... unquestionably paid for itself. That was my workhorse lens.

It also needs to be stated that Olympus America also "has" been very supportive. Even used some of my images. (might be still on the Olympus American site , somewhere).

And there Service ... imho, Very , Very good. Of course it might help if you buy SHG lens LOL

Thank you ... and see you all on the m43 forum ... imho, that's a must ... and at the risk of sounding like a fanboy , it will be a Olympus EP-something and a Fast Olympus lens, when they ever do this.

HG

Aloha Michael,

Well I needed the money ... and I felt, that gear "Had" paid for itself ... anything else was a Bonus.
The Lens sales did "sting" a little ... I could have kept them forever.

fyi: in the sea of Mail ... I did get a chuckle from yours.

Pleeese, no way I am going to sell those Metz flashes ... I still can use them for off camera stuff with the new JrX Radio popper RPcubes , that control the power level, from the trigger.
  • Like I have said before ... you have always been a great resourse here. Being that you own a ep-2 ... eventually you will see me on the m43 forum :)

... but good luck over in the Nikon world.
Thank you :)

I am amazed every week ... when I meet a Olympus PRO (from before) over there (shooting Nikon) ... a lot of familar faces and names. LOL
I'll still be here hoping for a new e-* that will work great in low light with the 14-35.
I think you will "Get" it with "any" new e5 ... the e30 is pretty much there.

but, yes ... the body is the limiting factor, on the AF ... after the Fix , it's probably not the lens.

When OLY ships this e5, they need to say Flat Out , that they improved the AF in low light.

side note: it's not the AF EV hard number either ...

I used to look at the e3/e30 AF EV -2 and "think" it would be better in low light vs the Lower rated AF EV -1 of the D700.

bottom line: the D700 24-70 f2.8 is a AF speed Demon. imho

IF, Olympus can come close to that ... and I think they can (eventually) ...

You will be more than happy that you stuck it out with the 14-35 f2 SWD , which will be talked about years from now. as being one of the all time Greats, from any brand.

That's just what I think ... as I use the D700 24-70 f2.8 ... my gut feeling ? the 14-35 f2 is better (and better looking ... I say that all the time).

Now, a Nikon New 24-70 f2.8 VR II , and a new D700s ... hmmm

You are right! I am still getting emails! way over 100 now.
I put a SOLD at the end of each thread. :)
I was sort of hoping you'd have a chance to do a 14-35/2 24-70/2.8 shootout before you converter fully, but oh well... Have fun!
Well, you may or may not know ... I am "not" nearly as good at those things as others here.

My personal feeling is ... as a Lens ... the 14-35 f2 is noticably better. That's just me. The Vig part is obvious. and the sharpness maybe less so (because of the big pixels of FF). but I think the 14-35's strength is that no matter where you go below f11 it is Way Sharp.
And you "could" shoot a Wedding all day at f2 with it.

It's like you never have to "think" ... what f stop/ FL is sharp ... wherever you are below f11 is fine. I don't think there is another zoom like that.
and with that lens you can live below f11.
in fact I probably shot 90% at f2 thru f4.

Now, when you start talking Lens on a D700 FF body (low light performance at this price point) ... then it's different. Now, even more so with a D3s or a rumored D700s in low light.

and the AF of the D700 ... low light or whatever ... it just works. and Fast.

The D700 with grip and D3 battery is very Fast ... not sure that is said enough.
it changed my focusing style.

Hawaii-Geek,
Just curious. Why Nikon and not Canon?
Not to get tooo off topic ... so, let's keep the subject line here ... descret
  • Nikon FF because of the AF ... if it's one thing ... it's that. Really amazing. imho, PROs live and die with that ... all the other stuff does not matter if you did not "GET" ... "the Shot".
  • IF, you know how many Flashes I have , you would know I am a Flash kind of guy (maybe less so, with FF now) ... so, Nikons Flash system is proably second to NONE. and the sb900 ... pretty complete, down to gels (and a gel that feeds back to the Flash/body).
I did use a Canon 5D 24-70 f2.8 before ... for a studio I worked for ... and the 5D AF is nowwhere close to the D700.
  • But, it had a cool MF , AF confirmation mode for all points ... that let you be in MF ... and use the focus ring to light up which AF points was locked. Very handy.
And, the D700 imho ... just feels better than the 5D ... in almost every way.
That might just be personal ... but, the D700 popularity speaks for itself.

Oh yes, there is another small thing ... my partner on many freelance shoots also shoots with a D700 24-70 f2.8 / 70-200 f2.8 VR II , sb900 combo. :)
so, it's nice back up.

fyi: he also owns a 5D ... but, shoots D700. take that for what it's worth. Of course this was before the 5D II. and the now rumored D700s to come.
