What is the difference between Topaz ReMask and the CS3 extraction tool. I don't see how Topaz Remask works any better for me. I don't seem to get the wind blown hair right. Do you have to have very similar backgrounds to get it right?

Just a tip: try using the Magic Brush afterwards to refine the hair better. See the Refining Masks vid tut on our site for more information. Also make sure you have ReMask 2... it's much more effective for most people than v1.

Also, and for whoever else has the same question, we're working on a tool that will specialize in extracting hair and will add it to ReMask soon.

Hope that helps!

P.s. I can't check dpreview very much so although I will do my best, for urgent matters or support issues please email us from our site. Much appreciated!

I'm wondering if I purchase Topaz Remask 2 now, will this
"tool that will specialize in extracting hair and will add it to ReMask soon"
be covered with a free upgrade or should I wait?

I was wondering the same thing. If I buy Remask2 now, will I get future upgrades?

I have the trial version of Remask2, and am very impressed. My daughter, a photographer, took a photo of my granddaughter against a black backdrop. Remask2 extracted the baby's head and teeny bit of hair (she's a 5-month-old baldie ;) and it did a much better job than I did manually with PS CS3, even though the background is wonderfully distinct from her head. I'm sold!

Thus far, i have had free upgrades from version 1 to version 2 for free. These people are serious and commited about their products. I have no hassitation of recommending any plug-in they make to the people.

Also, support is second to none...

Intersting! I am curious about that new hair tool and how effective it will be. Loose hair extration is and was still a nightmare for most editors.

I've been having a problem with it crashing, and I've emailed support, but can't seem to get much of a response. Do you know who I can contact? Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

I have remask 2 and having trouble getting the actions to come up on cs3. How do I get them?

ReMask 2 is not a set of actions, but a filter.....in the filter menu.
Watch all the videos on the Topaz website......it is so simple and effective

Karen: Please try downloading the latest version of ReMask. It's pretty stable, I don't think very many people have trouble with the latest version.

If that doesn't work and you have emailed support and couldn't get an answer, email me from the address on my "Plan" page. Thanks and sorry for any inconvenience!

gellis: ReMask 2 doesn't use actions. Download the latest version from our website - it has a user interface. The action only came with Topaz ReMask 1.

John: The upgrade with the hair extraction tool will be free for all ReMask customers (like the UI one was for v1 purchasers). It makes sense to not punish our early adopters :)

Any special discounts/coupons on this software? I own the earlier version of topaz bundle suite but it did not include remask?

Cheers

Ron

Yes, a rebate is available:

'Save $30 off Topaz ReMask 2. Use coupon code "magicbrush" (expires 12/10/09). ReMask 2 is FREE for existing version 1 owners.'
