*** Weekly wildlife thread - 29 Nov 2009 ***

I think it's a Black (Pariah) Kite due to the shape of the tail. Both birds look the same (ish) and are seen over Indian cities, but the way to spot the difference I believe is the tail - the Kite has a V shaped tail but the eagle is more rounded.

Thanks for looking anyway :)

i suppose I should say this .... but I welcome advice on my pics. I see so many beautiful wildlife shots and I am so desperate to learn the skills and techniques to get better, so any advice is more than welcome. Cheers.

1st off, Thanks for the kind words on my images, sure do appreciate it! :)

The threads are there, here's the link for this week:

Here's the one for last week.

Some weeks/months are slow, but it depends mostly on the shooters whether they come out & shot for the week especially on winter months where the weather is not very cooperative. But during early Spring/Summer/Early Autum & Fall season's, the thread get's filled up very quickly.

Cheers,
Abby

Do you remember the phrase " The Eyes Are The Windows Of The World " it also apllies to all living creatures. Love to see those eyes, but sometimes some wildlife images are taken without emphasize to the eyes but they work. But sometimes you get shots like these, the Buttshot! :)

While you did get some good shots of the birdies, some are a bit dark & some the highlights are a bit too high. Correct them if you can during post-processing or better yet shoot them at the most optimum settings on your camera, these way PP is very minimal at best. See what other wildlife shooters are shooting & try to emulate the shot, you learn faster if you experience it for yourself, I surely did. Hopes this helps you a bit! :)

Cheers,
Abby

We've plenty of starlings overe here, but I haven't got a good shot yet. Nice job
Thanks for the compliment, Jemini! :)

I only shoot the Male Starlings during early fall/winter months since their colors are quite beautiful to look at. But other than that, they are as pesky as the pigeons & gulls that hangs around the parks.

Cheers,
Abby

BTW: Love your site, lots of excellent captures!

thanks.

I was wondering whether starting the thread in the winter months was sensible as wildlife is (I guess) harder to get, but I figure if we can keep it going during the lean times, the spring and summer months should be wonderful ;)

Nice shots, especially the 2nd one! :)

Abby

What matters the most is that people participate in posting their images or giving some good C/C on the images that is posted.
