I think, but I'm not sure, if this is their usual price, but the full version is $127.43 at amazon today.

I thought it was lower than I usually see, but I noticed adorama has it for 129 and it looks like they're regular price. So I apologize for the interruption. We now return to regularly scheduled programming....

either way, it doesn't work on Snow Leopard so while its not a bad price, its a waste of money until Nikon updates the package.

Does it? I thought it wasn't compatible.

Perhaps I'll download the trial (assuming they offer one) and see how it works with my images.

I'd like to compare how it handles my NEF files against LightRoom. I'll still use LR, but for the initial conversion/tweaking I can see NX2 handling this perhaps.

NX2 is available for $120 from http://imagemixer.net as a download version. Actually you only need a S/N which they email you after the payment. For me this was the only way to get a legitimate copy in Russia, since Nikon doesn't sell its software here. It's also much cheaper than box versions in Europe.

NX2 2.2.3 works perfectly with SL and is the best raw converter for NEF files. Automatic CA removal and geometry correction for Nikon lenses are its strongest features. I usually roundtrip raw files from within Aperture with Catapult to NX2 and back using Batch option.

I'd rather of have box and stuff, I never heard of that site and its too easy to purchase a counterfeit version.

Although Nikon says it's only supported up to 10.5.8, NX2 2.2.3 (latest update) installed and works flawlessly on my MBP (10.6.2).

I waited until 2.2.3 came out before upgrading to SL. There were loads of problems with 2.2.2 and SL but 2.2.3 seems to work fine though not "officially" supported. Nikon said they'd have official support by end-December.

That said, I have experienced two issues with Capture NX2 where it hung up while I was in the file browser. Not sure why... but other than that I've been able use it for everything including big batch jobs.

The good news is that others have posted that 2.2.3 installs on SL while 2.2.2 did not.

The compatibility issue CNX 2.2.2 was having was that it didn't INSTALL correctly on SL. However, if 2.2.2 was installed first on Leopard and then the OSX is upgraded to SL, 2.2.2 would work fine (at least on my MBP and many others). The good news now, as said earlier, 2.2.3 does install properly on SL. CNX 2.2.2/2.2.3 has been running flawlessly for me on 10.6.2, though officially it is supported to 10.5.8.

But will 2.0 install on SL, so that the updater may be run? Or do I have to use the method of installing on Leopard, then migrating it over to SL?

You can buy the boxed 2.0 at the low price from Amazon and download 2.2.3 from Nikon's web site. Install 2.2.3; when you are asked for the serial number, enter the number that came with your 2.0 package. I bought NX2 from Amazon back in Feb - I was already running a 30-day trial version of 2.2. When I received my box, I think all I did was to enter the serial number to activate it.

1) get the license at the cheapest price you can and then apply it to the downloaded version from Nikon. Works perfectly. Manuals can be downloaded as well.

2) Many folks at other forums such as Nikon Cafe have reported serious compatibility issues with NX2 and SL. That's keeping me from upgrading 10.5. That said, Nikon has announced a SL compatible versions will be released this month, and similar upgrades to ViewNX and Nikon Transfer in January.

The problem is that 2.2.3 download at Nikon is the update, and requires at least 2.2.0 installed already. So my questions is, what can be installed on SL first?
