What is your single most Favorite Pentax Lens ?

I never owned the "trombone style" A-70-200/4 lens but I sold a lot of them :) and

whilst I didn't like the "way too loose" push-pull zoom on the lens ...it was a very
sharp lens :D Just too loose in the zooming :( , IMHO.
You are so true when you talk of the loose zoom on that lens. Obviously, that has little to do with sharpness (the lens was SHARP!) or picture quality, but it certainly suffered from zoom creep as soon as you dropped the camera from eye level.

Unlike the zooms that followed, however, it sure was fast to focus and zoom simultaneously.

I guess, this lens, like most things in life is a compromise. But is a beauty if you like sharp images. :)

WOW !!!!! Beautiful...............do you want to get rid of the FA43??!!!
Congrats ........John
Thank you.

Get rid of the 43?, LOL. If the K10D was the last camera Pentax ever made, I'll still be a Pentaxian for the 43...give me any Pentax body and one of the FA limiteds on it, and I will chose that over any camera on the planet.....so, the 43 is not leaving my hands, ever.

I know it was a rhetorical question ;)

Hi Stephen,

That lenses zoom was SO lose ... it would be equivalent to "bowling in alley
with a 25 degree angle ;)
Unlike the zooms that followed, however, it sure was fast to focus and zoom simultaneously.
Yep, ain't that the truth :(

Cheers,

Jack

( UPDATED NOV 16th )MY BLOG.... http://www.nakedmanonawire.blogspot.com

MY EMAIL ADDRESS IN IS MY 'VIEW PLAN'

It's amazing what one can do when one doesn't know what one is doing :)

If the K10D was the last camera Pentax ever made, I'll still be a Pentaxian for the 43...give me any Pentax body and one of the FA limiteds on it, and I will chose that over any camera on the planet.
I share the sentiment, and am amazed really at how many do find their way into the second hand market. The FA43 I can sorta see as it and it's APS-C focal length may not be everyone's cup of tea but selling the FA31 or FA77? No so much why, but rather what on earth do these people put on their camera afterwards!? Maybe like the died or something, or went blind and were forced to give up their hobby. (shudder) The only legitimate excuse I can see is moving up to medium format.

I've tried MANY different Pentax lenses. Based on my KEEPERS, here are my preferences:

1. Pentax A* 200 F/4.0 Macro
2. Pentax F* 300 F/4.5
3. Pentax FA 43mm F/1.9 Limited
4. Pentax FA* 80-200mm F/2.8

I've not had the 31 LTD for extended time. But, from what I've seen it would belong to anyone's list as well.

My concert lens was also the M 200/2.5 in front of a Pentax LX.
Kent Gittings

Without doubt the Pentax F* 250-600/5.6 ED IF.

FA 43mm Limited for it's character, sharpness, rendering and size.

Great lens well suited to be in the company of the other two FA Limiteds.

I do not have DA40mm the focal length of which is covered by F50mmF1.7
FWIW, I don't find that true at all. In fact, I got the DA40 specifically because my 50 was just too long too much of the time. 40mm is just enough wider to make a real difference. On the other hand, I do find that the 40 covers the the 50's FOV quite well, because all it takes is a bit of cropping to go in to tighter if I want.
