always safer to get a new one, warranty and all, for such a pricey camera...

Does that include a lens?

If it includes a lens, it's only a few pennies more than the price for a used one. Then if dealing with a store makes you comfortable, then it's OK.
But if it does NOT include a lens, then I think you could do better.

I bought a used one for 525.00 with 14-45 and extra battery

Lots of people are buying these cameras out of curiosity, with the intention of replacing much larger, pricier bodies. Only to realize that it's not what they were looking for. There are lots of used ones out there on other other sites.
Even Ebay had a few this week.
would 594.00 be a good price on a reconditioned one or should i just look at a new one.

That seems very close to the current new price (with lens), which looks to be around $640 - $650 this morning. I wouldn't give up the factory warranty for50 bucks.

FWIW, prices seem to be creeping up and supplies seem short. Last time I checked they were readily avaialable around $630 and a few months ago there were reputable dealers selling them for less than 600. This morning the first few places I tried were out of stock on black and blue, though B&H had red available. The camera has been selling well and it looks like dealers are running out during holiday shopping.

So my advice is if you see a good price from a reputable dealer don't wait around.
