I am wondering if there is anyone out there that has experienced a problem with the main power switch on thier 7i. I just recieved my 7i today and the serial numbers match the ones in the recall. Has anyone out there done the return? I would hate to part with my new 7i already as I have only had it for a few hours and it seems to work fine.

Mine also fits in to the groups of those with the supposed,
'problem'.

However, have had my D7i since August 5, and it all works
perfectly. I guess I will put in for the fix though, as no good
having it do a "funny" AFTER the warranty has expired!

Hi,

Mine d7i also fits the range and so far now problems. I found out the recall yesterday when visiting the site of minolta. I decided to just get it over with and made an appointment with the technical service of minolta in the netherlands. Today i went, gave the camera and about 30-45 minutes later i had my camera back again. Now with a new serial number and a new warranty. Also i got a written excuse, which states that they have replaced the hole power switch set and they did a full checkup on all the functions. I've noticed that they also upgraded the firmware.

Unfortunately for the recall but excellent service.

Where is the serial #, I looked all over the camera, could not find it, unless I am getting blind.

Also, it sounds to that they replaced the unit. new serial # is an indication of that, besides, 30 to 40 minutes is not enough time to perform the repair, I guss.

On the underside of the camera - almost beneath where the lens connects to the body - next to the tripod hole.

It's been confirmed that they do replace the serial number. Some owners have already mentioned that while the serial number was different it was the same camera, being able to tell by marks etc already on the camera.

Apparently they replace then number as it's a simple way of taking an effected serial number out of the equation all together.

Thanks again
