What lens do you wish from Nikon to made?

1,8 or 2,0/135 AF-S VR II

1,8/85 AF-S VR II

1,8/24 AF-S

4,0/24-105 AF-S VR II

2,8/17-55 AF-S (FX format, for sure)

2,8/120-300 AF-S VR II

4,0-5,6/80-400 AF-S VR II

ALL FX format, please.

Actually I've though of a lot but most these were just to match Canon so now I've cut it down to the lens I'd actually want to buy. So Nikon it's up to you, if you make these lenses I'll buy them (although I wouldn't buy them all immediately and all lens purchases are subject M.O.F. approval).

(number in brakets is my priority)

FX Lenses:-

AF-S 24 f/1.4 N (1)
AF-S 85 f/1.2 N VRII (2)

AF-S 24-135 f/3.5-f/5.6 VRII (ie the FX equiv to the AF-S 16-85 f/3.5-f/5.6 DX VRII) (5)

DX Lenses:-

AF-S 16 f/2 N DX (3)
AF-S 8-16 f/2.8 DX (4)
AF-S 10-24 f/4 DX (6)

24/1.4 or 28/1.4
50/1.2
85/1.4
135/2 (or even 1.8), and lose the DC gimmick

All AFS, ED, Nano..

28mm f/1.4 AF-S (Excellent & 62mm filter though - min 58mm filter)
70-200mm f/4 VR Nano
300mm f/4 VR Nano
200mm f/4 Micro AF-S Nano

24-70mm f/4 would be nice also

I would like:

Zooms:
AF-S 16-40mm f/4 Nano - 900$
AF-S 24-120mm f/4 Nano VR - 1200$

Primes:
AF-S 50mm f/1.4 Nano - 400$
AF-S 135mm f/2 Nano VR - 1100$
AF-S 300mm f/4 Nano VR - 1300$

All with the same insane performance as most new Nikons (e.g. 14-24, 24-70, 60 micro etc.)

The ideal portrait lens for FX like the 24-70 f/2.8 is for DX.

Reasoning:

On FX the 50-105 range is ideal for shooting portraits while 35mm is great for groups. You stay within the 3x zoom range that seems neccessary for high quality lenses. The f/2.8 is there to be able to focus in the studio using dimmed artificial light.

your problem is that you all think in the lanes of canon (16-35, 24-105), a 35mm f/1.2 AFS would be a blast but it can't be done before nikon integrate the AF-contacts into the lining of the lens. This can't be done unless the AF-contacts in the body is altered.

Did you ever think about this? Is there some lens that you want to
update or make all-new?
If you can rule the Nikon production which lens it will be?
For me, it'd be light(er), middle-aperture, high-quality lenses (both in terms of build and image quality), for hiking with. So ...
  • AF-S 16-70mm f/3.5-4.5G IF ED N DX
Build & image quality similar to 17-55mm f/2.8 (but reduced field curvature, perhaps). £650 / 650g. Basically, a DX version of the Canon 24-105mm f/4.
  • AF-S VR 300mm f/4G IF ED N
Take the current lens, improve the foot, add VR & N.
  • AF-S VR 70-200mm f/4G IF ED N
Could just use the 70-300mm, but it's build quality isn't as nice as the more expensive lenses. As I'd use it for landscapes, you wouldn't need the f/2.8.

That's it for me. I can see a 400mm f/4 being popular, though.

16-40 f4 AFS
300 F4 VR
400 F5.6 VR or even 400 f6.3 VR
70-250 f4 or 100-250F4 to be on the cheaper side.

I would suggest a 24-135 2.8G with macro capabilities nanocoating with super ed elements for every use.
