This is a picture of my friend's family, they are all law enforcement officers and this is a cherished family moment he shared with me..



The photo below is one of my remakes. I did a few for him to choose from, and he said this was his favorite.



I would love your comments on this retouch...it's my first extraction of a group of people, I was lucky, they were wearing hats. :)

I thik being as you said FIRST time you did a pretty decent job !!!i would maybe lighen a bit the flag because the middle guy blends in with the blue of the flag so i would lighten a bit the uniform or darken the flag but make him stand out a bit... Also like how you moved the eyes of the son there... Good effort !!! Ciao !

Thanks Sal, I appreciate the advice. I did 3 others, this wasn't one of my favorites, but my friend really liked the flag so it's the one I posted (first)...below is the one I liked best - darker background, a lot less patriotic though. BTW, my friend liked the eyes being moved too, but really liked that I took a few pounds off his waist. He was injured recently and put on a few while away from the job.

surprised there are no takers for this one... Or any improvement advise... I think the flag would work great if you would follow my initial advise and either make the uniform a tad lighter than the flag blue to make it stand out or make the flag have some background lite on it to show the middle officer off better and not blend in... I am not on a PC with PS so i cannot do much but advise for now... I am out of the country on extended travel and have my travel ACER 10" laptop for email ... I am sure you get what i am saying !! Be well and good luck !! BTW i am on a 5 countries tour and be back in a month or so...

Looks great! That was a great job with the eyes of the son but I would also recommend a bit of eye work on the father. The lightening of his eyes has created a bit of red rimming around them. I would collect a good skin color just outside the red rim and then zooming in, do some light airbrushing.

I dolike your BG change. Perfect!. The thing that bugs me is the BG is sharper than the people. Wonder if you can soften the flag a little?

On second thought, and after seeing how it looked diferent in JPEG rather tha my TIFF file, I did some more tweaking.
