How come I can't find this online? I checked the US and JP sites, doesn't appear to be on either. The K-x is available here in Canada.....Ned was kind enough to post the K-7 manual before the camera hit the shelves. How come no one has done that with the K-x manual?

weeks ago, i asked Pentax USA if they had any downloadable brochure for the new K-x as a friend of mine was very interested.

nope, nada, none. Pentax germany has it, albeit in german.

so all i could tell him was that "Yeah, pentax has a K-x coming out in 100 colors, blah, blah, blah" with nothing to really for him to sink his eyes into.

that's pentax marketing for you.
poor, poor, poor.

reminds me of Borland Delphi (pre- dot net era). Great product, terrible marketing

The manual is not available for download.

But it's hardly difficult to find full info on the K-x,

http://www.pentax.jp/japan/imaging/digital/slr/k-x/spec.html

if you want the brochure in pdf, here you go,

http://www.pentax.jp/japan/imaging/catalog/pdf/k-x.pdf

there is even a special web site,

http://www.camera-pentax.jp/k-x/

They even have a comprehensive English-language page, though not as flashy as the Japanese material.

http://www.pentax.jp/english/news/2009/200918.html

Other countries may not have such depth of material, but that's something you'd have to take up with the sub-company in your region.

Usually the manuals are available some time after the camera is launched on the market. I don't recall that it has happened ever that the manual was available at the same time as the launch. The K-7 manual was a special post by Mr Ned Bunnel and it wasn't really for download, instead he uploaded it to a special service where one could view the manual online - but not downloading it to the computer.

If you buy a K-x, then you get the manual. Having the manual online for download is just a service to those that have lost their copy or bought a 2nd hand unit without receiving the manual.

Well, I have bought the camera here in Japan, so yes I got the manual - in Japanese, which I don't understand. So also in such kind of case it would be very useful to put at least an English manual online.

Its also for those of us that would rather read it on a nice big computer monitor rather than the tiny type of a printed manual. Fortunately the Pentax K-x manual is at least printed large enough to read but my Fuji and Olympus manuals are usually ridiculously small print.

I would also like to be able to read the PDF on my iPhone while I am out and about and I don't want to get the printed manual too ratty looking in case I need to return the camera to the retailer.

I hope they have it up on the site soon!

Wrong, wrong, wrong.

In the modern internet era, having the manual available online is especially for those who want to move beyond the marketing fluff and research all the details of a product they are interested in buying.

Select "K-m" in the popdown menu and you will get the page containing the download URL. Be patient; it seems to take a long time to download the PDF.

Same webpage, just pick the K-x from the dropdown menu.

This is exactly why I searched for the manual a few weeks back. I wanted to find out if K-x has mirror lockup in 2s timer since the published spec. did not say anything about it. Anyway, it doesn't matter now since my interested in K-x has waned for other reasons.
