Have just released first official teaser for my new surf film, shot on Red, 5D mark 2, 7D, P2 and V1U with Vincent Laforet and others. Please let me know what you think and what you'd like to see more of...

All the Red footage was shot using Canon lenses.

Here it is on surfline:

I envy your equipment, a friend of mine will literaly touch himself if I show him the part with the Red and what looks like a 500L or am I wrong ?

Looks damn nice but I have no understanding for video what so ever...

It seem like the 800mm

Gorgeous video, I am not really into surf and stuff, but this ability to use them lenses and have access to all sorts of DOF really make for something special in video.

Love the bit he jumps off the helicopter, I am sure he had not realized how high he was cause there is a bit of "oh sh*ttttttt" going there LOL

Jamie - I saw that on LaForet's blog this weekend. That was awesome! Even loved the soundtrack. First time I ever wished I could surf!! :-) Very "Crisp!" I gave it a mention on Facebook.

Nice job!

Looking forward to seeing the final product. It's nice to see the Red and 5D2 used for surfing. Lots of surf video is aimed on the less than discriminating teen market who like fast cuts and big maneuvers with no real concern regarding image quality. Looks like you are starting a new trend. I hope it catches on and the clips get a little longer!

Are you riding the R. quads? They are pretty effective in less consequential stuff than you are riding.

yes, you r right. there was a LOT of "oh WHAT!!???"

I asked the chopper pilot for 25feet, but we were in Bali, which is metric, and he went to 25meters. I looked out and said "are you sure this is right", chopper pilot was like, "yeah, no worries, maybe on 23...."

So I jumped and just kept falling and falling...

yeah 25 meters or 25 feet make for either a small "opsss" or a big "f* k"
LOL

It is remarkable to see the evolution of what surfer can do these days when they ride a wave, those "360" and such are quite cool to watch

Yes he is. Thanks for the response. Can't wait for the movie. Looked like some epic Nias or something similar.

Hi Jamie,

Please don't take this the wrong way - I'm just curious about the creative development of such movies. As a surfer how much input are you able to achieve to the process; i.e. do you direct the guy behind the camera or is he mainly directing you?

Cheers

Alan
