OPTEKA .45X Wide Angle Lens for the LX3

I wonder why though, this opteka cheap piece of glass should be any better than the other cheap ones on ebay...

I have now taken a lot of images using the Opteka wide adapter, but haven't had a lot of time to run them through Photoshop. Here are a couple more:

Focal Length: 11mm; f7.1 @ 1/30 second, hand-held; ISO 80:

Focal Length: 11mm; f4.5 @ 1/50 second, hand-held; ISO 400:

You're right.....not bad. I wasn't expecting that level of quality from a $30 lens kit. Sometimes you get lucky!

A couple of B&W images, done yesterday with the Opteka:

One last sample image. I really like the results I'm getting with the Opteka unit.

ISO 400. "Dynamic B&W" film mode. 35mm focal length equivalent of 11mm.

The lens does come with an adapter. I got mine from Amazon.com:

The adapter also lets you use any 52mm filter with the LX3.

Here are a couple more recent examples of images taken with the lens:

Thanks. I'll look for your images.

One of my friends here bought the wide angle and the telephoto unit. He just got it, so I haven't seen any results yet. I was also seriously thinking about buying the fisheye. Post some images so we can see what it can do.

I really want the Nikon 10.5mm fisheye for my D300, but just can't afford it right now. I know the Opteka will not be in the same league as the Nikon, but it should be fun to play with and the price is right!

I know I know, that is the one big issue with the hotel here, those damn wires running through the view! Wish they could be buried. I just really snapped the shots, did not really think much about the composition, (although I should have). But I did flick on a couple of the HD scene options (weird processing, like the shot where the green really comes out).

thanks for the note.

dunno if it's due to the HD mode, but on those ones, we can clearly see some purple fringing on the sides...
