G11 - no remote shooting - WHY!?

I'm so disappointed that Canon saw fit to remove the remote shooting capability from the G11 - it effectively rules out using these cameras for elevated photography - something that the G-series cameras have previously been the defacto choice for.

I wonder - could the feature be reintroduced by a firmware fix? the underlying DIGIC4 hardware is certainly capable of it...

So - has anyone heard any reason for this downgrade in capability of the G-series from Canon?

? - G10 / G9 / G7 all support it....
