I'v read messages posted here concerning manufacturer US warranites, and extended warranties (those like Mack and credit card purchase incentive warranties). In the two cases when I purchased extended automobile warranties, most of the items that broke were not covered by the warranties. Though I didn't get my money's worth on these warranties, they did give me some peace of mind.
I expect the same experience with digicam extended warranties. A 5-year extended Mack warranty for as little as $59.99 or even $89.95 ($12 to $18 per year) seems to be very affordable insurance for what it covers, plus the sense of security it may provide.
I've found that the more discounted the S602z, the more the vendor wants for a 5-year Mack or similar warrnaty. The cameras I've found on the internet(with full U.S. warranty) run from $509 to generally $699. The warranty from the same vendor generally inversely cost from $199 to $59.99. Thus, one would be tempted to purchase the camera and warranty from separate vendors, which seems valid, and save nearly $100 to more than $200. Has anyone done this?
