S90 with Flipbac

flipbac cool idea...but if you watch the video its only being held on by a thin strip of backed adhesive...after many hours in the pocket ect..it will start to come off, if it were screwed on somehow then I'd be a buyer in a heartbeat.

I bought the flipbac for my G9, and I have to say it was kind of disappointing. There were a lot of threads about it back then. It really doesn't work like an articulated LCD, unfortunately.

But mine is still on the camera after a couple of years. No problem there.

it looks like it could easily loose the adhesive and fall off or have to be reglued...not what I'd want.

I have been using mine for almost 2 years. It has never fallen off. I have used it on the G10,LX3 and now the S90.

When I removed it from the LX3 I feared the 3M tape wouldn't remained sticky on the S90. I emailed them and they immediately sent free replacement tape.

It does have some limitations as it isn't as good a real flip-out screen. But it does let me get some very good travel shots. The tape hasn't been a problem. Cant complain for 20 bucks.

Seems like a pretty decent LCD protector and below-the-waist shooter.
I don't get what the major negatives are...especially for $20.

For me the negative was that it's a mirror, which means if you open it out far enough to really see it clearly, it's no longer reflecting the LCD very well. No problems at all with the adhesive or with it breaking, though. Structurally, it's fine. It's just not the same as or nearly as good as a real flipout screen.

Why don't you just remove it then? Isn't it at least good for protecting the LCD? Also, isn't it better than nothing for getting those low shots or overhead shots (camera upside down) ???

No, it's not better than nothing for low shots, really, because you can't see how you're focusing very well, at least not for macros. I actually bought it for my G10 when I first got that, didn't care for it much, and stuck it on the G9 to use more as an LCD protector than anything, after that camera was mostly relegated to the old camera drawer.

But some people do like it. I'm not saying don't get it, just that some of us were disappointed with its performance. It didn't do what I needed. That doesn't mean it won't do what you need it to do. The point of my first post in this thread was that there isn't any need to be concerned about glue and how well it's made and so on.

I used one for my FZ28. It works very well on that camera, since I mostly used the EVF and the Flip-bac kept my nose off the LCD. Then the Flip-bac was available for overhead or low shots. It's also more convenient than a flip out LCD when I just want to look at the LCD for image review or working with the menus.

The mirror does give a reversed image which does take some getting used to; but I adapted in about 5 minutes of use.

The 3" Flip-bac is slightly too big for the 2.7" screen, but even so it hung on securely. Falling off is not an issue.
