Killdozer...

Very cool shot. I'm glad you are going to reshoot with a super wide, because that's exactly what I was thinking. You've been around these forums for awhile, did you see or remember seeing that fantastic yellow bulldozer shot that James Cover took a couple of years ago, I believe with the Sigma 10-20mm? This reminds of that and has the same potential. I can't decide if I think that the background trees should have a little more PP. I know you wouldn't want to emphasize them, but they kind of seem like every other part of the image was PP'd but them, if you know what I mean. Looking forward to seeing the reshoot with the Sigma...
Thanks Lora, yes I do remember James Covers ultra wide angle back hoe photo. very cool. Havn't seen him on the forums for a couple years. Here's a couple I did with my Sigma 10-20 at 10mm. I'll try and get out this weekend for a UWA reshoot of the bulldozer.

First, for this subject, I like the treatment just as it is.

Perhaps it's because your calling it 'Killdozer' brought to mind the fact that this is the title of a classic science fiction short story from many, many years ago ... .

Nice shot, good pp work as well. I usually don't like the cartoony HDR stuff, maybe ink0gnito was on drugs or something saying that it didn't look natural, its one of the most natural HDR photos I've seen !!

Bob, I really like these, especially the second one. Probably funny for a woman to say, but I'd like to get some similar shots myself. So far I haven't found any of these big rigs to be isolated away from everything else, but hopefully someday...

I've been on Dpreview since June 2006. Unfortunately, some posting history has been lost along the way...

Thanks Lora. Yea, that's always the difficult part, isolating the subject from all the junk in the background....

Thanks veteran. I did try and keep it as real as I could while giving it a little pop and detail with Topaz...

I won't go as far as to say drugs were involved in the other posters comments (although your comment did make me laugh) as we all see colors differently. Also there are monitor issues that could come into play.

Also all art/photography is subjective and you can't please everyone...

Hi Lora, here's a couple I did the other day with the Sigma 10-20 at 10mm...

A couple different angles than the first version but I wanted to try something different...

Great color and the sky was just waiting for you to take this picture. By the way, did you ever finally get to NYC?

Thanks Stan, no I have not made the trek down to the Big Apple yet. I really need to check it out though...

I reshot this old bulldozer with the Sigma 10-20 from a couple different angles and re posted them about 6 or 7 posts up in this thread if you're interested in looking...

Very nice Bob, I like the WA perspective, it works well for this subject and setting.

For someone that lives in the same state, who is no longer a teenager, it's hard to believe you never made the trip to the Big Apple. Think of all the pictures you can take.

I know it sounds weird. I'm 50 years old and my mom won't let me go to the big city....hahah, just kidding...

Even weirder is the fact that I have been to Mombasa Kenya East Africa, Perth Austrailia, Rio De Janeiro Brazil, Malaga Spain, Marceille France, Portsmouth England, Athens Greece and many other places while in Uncle Sams Canoe Club (US Navy) but have never visited NYC...yet...

I'll get there. Yours and Dez's photos sure make me want to come down soon...
