What is the best messenger type bag to carry my 5DMKII and 2 primes or one zoom? I'm looking for something that I can use to bring the camera virtually everywhere on a daily basis. Any suggestions?

I use a Domke F 803 with a lens on the cam and another in a lens pouch. No side padding but works for me.

Check out ThinkTankPhoto.com. It's not the most inexpensive stuff but I feel if you can spend $10K on photo gear a few more hundred won't hurt ya.

Highest quality... Lifetime Warranty.

People who list their gear
in their signatures are silly.

I love Crumpler. I have the 7 million dollar home and I can fit a 5d2 with 70-200 2.L IS mounted, another zoom lens, a 50mm, a 580EX II, a Lightsphere and bunch of cables etc....

and the bag is not that big! but heavy lol.

just to say they have really good stuff, good quality and very well designed.
So I bet you would find what you like.

Domke is very good too. but I somewhat prefer crumple. space optimization is better in my case

I've also been looking for a small carry around bag, for just carrying 5d2, 24-70, prime, maybe a flash if i'm pushing it, after trying all the million dollar homes, i found them all too bulky, and the smallest one (i think it was the 4M), it was super tight and fit only the 5d2 with 24-70 mounted and 35f2, but only in that exact configuration.

anyway, found this off another thread on this forum, somebody recc, the DOMKE F-5XC, which looks quite promising, and I may buy it. As I'm looking for a bag thats as thin as possible. check out this flickr post..

I have both the ThinkTank and Crumpler 6Mil and both are great.
The thinktank has the better warranty but the Crumpler seems better made to me.

that's the config I use and the 24-70+5d2 with the hood works well

if you're looking for something really small..check this

check it out.

I can carry my 5DII, 24-70, 70-200/4, with room leftover for either a speedlight or my 17-40. The 70-200/2.8 would not fit - go for the 8 if you have that. With the 70-200/4 on the camera it is a little tight, but it works.

Crumpler makes the x million dollar bag that is great.
As already mentioned, Crumpler's are great - waterproof, rugged, but expensive. I use a Western Lawn which is they regular messenger bag with open compartment and put the camera bucket divider from my Sinking Barge in it for my camera equipment (1 body + lens, and 2 bodies). Its cheaper than the dedicated camera shoulder bags like the Million dollar home ones (I paid $65) and it doubles as a regular bag when I'm not schlepping camera gear around.

You can also look into the Complete Seed and Barney Rustle.

Just mentioning Crumpler bag names is weird... but they are fantastic.

did you guys not see my link? That site sells a crumpler knock off (which uses the same materials as the crumpler bags) but without the logo! I have one, and I only paid 25 bucks for it! It's a 7 million dollar home clone and it's awesome!!!
