Can I within Macromedia flash movie create a clickable frame that leads to other webpages or other content? - the frame woul. be placed say at the end of a movie? Presently I don't actually have Flash - beyond the player and a few free tools - thus what might to appear to some as the naivety of the question.

PS if there's software that allows me to do what I would like to which is
less expensive than me having to buy a full edition of flash maybe someone
might mention it.

With Apple's quicktime one can have this clickable frame functionality, however as flash is an even more common plugin it is of even greater interest to me.

I believe so yes, there is the ability to create buttons that will lead to other webpages.

You can try Swish 2.0 which creates Flash files.
It has a 15 day free trial period. $50 to buy it.
Far easier to use than Macromedia's version.

The only major difference (anyone, please correct me if I'm wrong) is that shape tweening cannot be performed with Swish. Special effect are achieved through a simple drop down menu, and can be fine tuned.
You can download the demo here:

You can create buttons that act as links to other web pages in a flash movie.

Try Swish 2.0 as an alternate. You can download a free 15 day trial and purchase it for $50 U.S. from here:

I find it far easier to use than the Macromedia version. Special effects are achieved via drop down menu. The only major difference (beside the price) between Swish 2.0 and Macromedia is that Swish cannot perform shape tweening.

Thanks for your reply. I have actually heard of swish I'll download it later. My desire is to convert mpgs or similar video type files to flash and at their end have a clickable link - not very exciting but I have an application in mind. I have also a piece of software that will allow to do the conversion - though for a 10 minutes video the files are gross - 88 mb... 320 * 240 @ 22 frames per second.

I don't know if MPEG or AVI type files can be inserted in to Flash. Usually only still images. I know it's not possible with Swish.

on(release){
getURL("http: "url of site", " blank");
}

Simple enough.. The above action script will open up a link for you. You need to create a button on your stage. A while the button is highlighted on the stage, open up the actions window and copy and paste the script above. That will attach the action to the button. Where it says "http: "url of site" replace this text with the actual URL.

I also suggest having an action script on the final frame in which you stop the movie, otherwise it will loop back to your movie.

If you have any more questions you can email me...
