When using a canon and shooting raw, All settings like brightness etc were invalid, they were mostly done in the raw conversion program.

Maybe it is me but it seems that even shooting in raw on the g1, the film modes still work. I am sure the intelligent exposure does also. Can anyone confirm if all this is still processing in the raw image ?

I wont say it seems backward but it is totally different to what i have been used to in the past.

I will probably use ACR to start with even though i have lightroom. I was just wondering because the lcd/evf will still show an image in mono or other film settings, and show intelligent exposure differences, even shooting in raw, So just wondering if that is best turned off as it has no effect on the raw file, or whether some of these things will affect the image, as if shooting in jpeg.

When i used a canon, It took no notice of sharpness contrast etc settings. As it didnt have an electronic display to view the shot being taken, It was more straightforward.

Only asking as i dont see it mentioned anywhere.

Ah, you are looking at the images on the cameras LCD. You didn't say that. The camera can not show the raw data on the LCD. It shows the embedded preview image which is a JPG and it does have the things applied. If you load the raw image it will not have the settings applied it will be raw data.

Hi Ric, just a shout to a believed friend. Your mention of textured images rung a bell. Got my G1 this morning, fantastic, what a camera, wanna buy my FZ50.
Put the first image up on the old forum, think it has surprised a few of them.
See you around my friend.

Thank you Ken. You got your G1 then ? I am thoroughly enjoying it and am having quite a bit of success. Please send me a link to any images you do with it. Good to hear from you
Speak soon I hope
Ric.

Hi Ric, nice to find you, and know you are still enjoying photography. And yes the G1 is rather special, old faithful FZ50 was very good, but the G1 has everything I could wish, I don't want video. have that on my TZ5, which will be kept, as a good go everywhere pocket job. Well it fits my pockets OK.

Right, first image from G1, straight out of the box, goto, and scroll down.
