Anyone use aftermarket battery for D90

Don't know these batteries but I have used an after-market battery before but it split and became difficult to remove from the camera. There are lots of posts about after-market batteries so do a search. The consensus seems to be stick to Nikon.

Ive been using an Opteka battery in my D90 for a couple of months. No problems here. I got it on ama-zon for about $18.

Opteka EN-EL3E

The battery capacity seemed pretty low the first couple of cycles, but now I can easily get 400-500 shots and still have at least 25% capacity remaining. This is characteristic of LIon batteries, but seemed more pronounced with the Opteka.

I don't fully trust it, so I always keep a fully charged Nikon battery in my bag.

Phottix batteries seem to get a good report, but I've not tried them myself. I would be interested to find out who makes the Nikon battery...

I have approximately $2500 in D90 and lenses and I am going to skimp on my battery? No way.
That is a common refrain on this site- I spent $$$ on my camera so I am going to buy the most expensive accessories I can find. The battery you use has zero effect on the pictures you take. I've never heard of a third party battery damaging a camera. They may fail or refuse to take a charge, but I've never heard of any resulting damage.

As I mentioned earlier, I wouldn't want to go out on an all-day shoot with only a 3rd party battery. Fortunately we all have at least one genuine Nikon battery. Mine rides along on every shoot, just in case my 3rd party battery fails. With two months of heavy use, I have not had to use my backup Nikon brand battery once.

Save your money on accessories and use it to buy better glass.

A good accessory is the Zeikos battery grip, under $60.00 and you can use Enelop AAs

I agree but make sure you buy from a reputable manufacturer. Lithium Ion can be very dangerous.
