The store is in the VA area. They are better than any store that I've ever bought from and I've shopped with "MANY". Ask for Eldar and say Jeff sent you. He will take care of you and their shipping is flawless. Good prices and great service. You can call him up and do it over the phone if you prefer that method. I do. (703) 250-5555. Got mine from Showcase in Atlanta but mainly because it had just come out and nobody was discounting them (well, that and they are like a mile away from me).
They seem like good people. Just moved here though and that was my second purchase. Only complaint is I wish they had more on-hand but I guess I am just spoiled by B&H.

Another vote for BHphoto in NYC, if you live out of state you can save in tax and sometimes even with free shipping.
Not sure if it’s a good time to buy just yet. I’ve noticed that the prices have dropped below 1700 at some distributors (B&H is one). Rebates are rumored that could bring it down even more. Just in our local craigslist and classifieds there are 6 of the D300 for sale starting at $1100 and not selling. Also, I think Canon’s 7D is forcing Nikon to be more realistic.

Bought D70s, D80 and D300 from Foto Forum in Phoenix. Never bought anything else from them though. (Why? Because they were the closest store to me with cameras in stock). Bought D200 from Mark Photo in Phoenix, along with some other (mostly lighting equipment). Happened to be in there trying to get broken D70s fixed, and bought D200 kit a couple of weeks before Hawaii trip. Would have bought a camera from Tempe Photo, except they are farther away - bought lots of other stuff from them (especially bags).
Much equipment bought from B&H, and had one return to them (defective lens) - great service based on my experience.
I've bought from local camera stores because a) all had the same MSRP price, and b) I was in a hurry and more willing to pay local sales taxes than wait a few days for cameras to ship from B&H or other locations. If one of the local shops would have offered a slightly lower than MSRP price, I'd have driven to them.
Much equipment bought from B&H, and had one return to them (defective lens) - great service based on my experience.
