reynir, I just made this same trade, couldn't be happier, but then again I am shooting sports 90% of the time. I can't say that I do not miss the 21MP of the 5DII, however when I was using it for sports, most times those 21MP were blurred or just not capturing the right shot. A similar discussion is also in this thread:

Good luck!

LOL, I'm almost certainly adding a 1dMK4 as my new primary body and for the second body trying to decide if I want to keep the 1D MKIII, or sell it and get a 5D MKII.

There's a lot of reasons to like each camera, and I've been really happy with my mk3 but the FF is tempting and having both a FF and a 1.3x camera is a good combo I think.

The answer, as always, is "it depends". What types of photography are you mostly doing these days? If it is action (wildlife, sports, etc), or you typically use long lenses, then the 1D might be a good choice (faster fps, crop factor). If you do more landscapes, then the 5DMk2 is a better choice do to its full frame, higher MP sensor.

Also, really think about why you want a higher frame rate. Is it something that could be accomplished in another way?

Since the 1DMk4 just came out, it might be better to wait and buy that in addition to the 5DMk2 once you've saved up a little.

Thanks all, the problem i have is that i can exhange my 5D MII for a 1D MIII which is one year old and has 7500 on the shutter, look like new and is in fact like new, it tempting to to the exchange and i am not thinking about the 10Mp or 21mp, The video is not of any interest to me at all, i do 50% landscape and rest people and events, and maybe sport at my grandchildren event. this is it,,,,,, what is tempting for me is the fact that the 1D is crop 1.3 and 10FPs and is PRO all the way. there is no othere factor for me. But i do have a huge decision scare what to do.....

If the only action you're shooting regularly is amateur sports, keep the 5D. You are likely not using superzooms (500mm and up) with tele-extenders (where the better auto-focusing of the 1D is helpful). Go with the FF sensor and larger MP count. The frame rate and auto-focus in the 5D should be just fine for your needs, plus it is fantastic for landscapes, which you are shooting half the time. The 5D is also great for people portraits.

Focus more on the finished photos and less on how the camera feels in your hands. The 5D is capable of pro-quality images, plus you'll be able to print HUGE.

Agreed with Hank

If you really want to try a speedy camera, maybe give the 7d a shot along with your 5d2...the 1d is a helluva camera...but maybe a bit overkill for ya? Your decision, obviously...but I don't think I'd ever get rid of my 5d2...just way to pretty o' cam!
