I haven't been around here for a few weeks, so I come back in, and what do I see?

1) 90% of posts are still about the 7D
2) For all the wrong reasons
3) At first glance, I deduce that the 7D has an AF hardware problem
4) Of course the usual Canon vs. QC vs. End-User-Ability debate ensues
5) All this negative discourse makes me believe that Canon built another dud
6) Why have I not sold all my Canon gear and bought a Nikon D300s?

7) How is the 7D doing at high ISOs? Normal ISOs? This was the concern everyone had at the beginning.

Ok, it's the new toy on the block...
2) For all the wrong reasons
Not quite. If you ignore a few posts by some very vocal people here that seem to seek out problems where there are none...
3) At first glance, I deduce that the 7D has an AF hardware problem
There may be a few samples which are in need of a calibration but nothing out of the extraordinary. There are more people that don't take the necessary time to learn the ropes on the new system as they expect it to behave like an evolution of the xxD series - which it clearly isn't. Those same people would have problems with a 1D3 oder 1D4 as well...
4) Of course the usual Canon vs. QC vs. End-User-Ability debate ensues
Which are again the same people that seek out problems where there are none or are insisting on beta software which only has preliminary support for the camera. I'd blame Adobe for releasing this without stamping each developed image with a big "beta" watermark.
5) All this negative discourse makes me believe that Canon built another dud
Believe me, they didn't.
6) Why have I not sold all my Canon gear and bought a Nikon D300s?
Do you really believe this would solve anything?
7) How is the 7D doing at high ISOs? Normal ISOs? This was the concern everyone had at the beginning.
It's doing pretty darn fine and the evidence of that can be seen all over the place.

None? A "few posts"?

So, according to you, all the people having problems with a 7D are rank amateurs who don't know how to use a camera and are upgrading from a lower end camera?

Your fanboyism is out of control.

Prove it. Post photos from every 7D that has been sold. Make sure they show the results from every focus setting and with moving and static subjects in all lighting situations.
6) Why have I not sold all my Canon gear and bought a Nikon D300s?
Do you really believe this would solve anything?
Do you think that your ridiculing everyone who has a problem with a 7D is going to solve anything?
7) How is the 7D doing at high ISOs? Normal ISOs? This was the concern everyone had at the beginning.

There's a lot of evidence to the contrary, from very skilled photographers. Guys like you expect people to prove that they have a camera with issues. I'm expecting you to prove that they don't.

They say that insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result. I guess you weren't surprised by the same result, so you don't qualify as insane, so why did you come back?

Welcome back, by the way.

You expect the impossible.

Not to worry. This happens every time a new camera is released, and with the 7D being a camera many were long awaiting the furor is especially loud. Those of us who were around remember the same happening when the 40D and 50D were released...and yet somehow thousands of people all over the world continue to capture wonderful images with these cameras every day.

I think this person left again.
