Portrait with a ringlight

it looks ok . im just trying ringlight myself this wekend. Think it needs a dark haired model with a deep lipstick to give it the extra punch but i like it as is all the same cheers Paul

It has that creative, artsy look. The kind that get recognition in places like Photoworkshop. I guess I'm just an ol' fuddy-duddy cuz....I don't get it.
 
I like the cool color palette and the soft even light from the ring light but the iris of her eye showing the ring light bothers me. I wold prefer a singular spectral highlight.

Over all I like it.

Ringlight is easy to misuse. You can't just use it "cuz it looks cool" and expect good results. Also, like many specialized techniques, it's gone through a "fad phase" in which it was overdone, so some people got sick of seeing it. (Right now, I'm more sick of endless vignetting effects than I am of HDR! LOL)

Your shot succeeds because you use the strengths of ringlight without falling prey to the cliche'. Also, it helps to have a model with good facial structure and complexion.
