Hi,

I've got a 4000zoom (since 3 days), and I've noticed 2 "strange" things:

1 - the focus indicator on the LCD (the 2 brackets), sometimes moves (a few mm) across the lcd during focussing......Is this normal?? Pics seem well focused though..

2 - The sound the motor makes when zooming in or out is not very smooth. It sounds a bit harsh. Again, is this normal?

Overall, I'm very satisfied so far, took about 100 shots. Color and sharpness is good, shutter lag I can live with, and portability is great.

Thanks, Folkert

Hi, fastfolkert,

Like you, I'm a new C-4000 owner and am still discovering all the ins and outs of this camera.

1) This happens when the focus mode is set to iESP. The camera decides what it wants to focus on and moves the focusing point appropriately. I've found that in outdoor shooting situations, this focus point is not usually anywhere near infinity with the result that landscapes tend to be out of focus. My own preference is to set the focus mode to Spot, then I control what the camera's focusing on (old SLR habits die hard).

2) Mine too. I guess they left out the sound insulation.
