We need new NiMH batteries and a battery charger that will condition them as well as charge. Any recommendations of names, types, and good places to buy them? I think I remember seeing an Australian source highly recommended in this forum by several people, but I forgot to keep the address.

I have a set of 'no name' NIMH from Jaycar in Australia which are very good and only cost about Au$16 for 4. Not sure about a charger as I have the Olympus CU-100 which is very good.

I can suggest thomasdistributing.com. They have the Maha charger which conditions and charges. It is considered one of the best. I have it with their 1800mAh Powerex batteries. I think you would find it an excellent choice.

You didn't say if you were actually from Australia but here is the site I use. I think that other than the States they will only shiip to Canada but you may check with them and find out for sure.

There's no reason to "Condition" NiMh....That's for NiCad & the memory effect they suffer from that NiMh don't suffer from....A quick charger that will trickle charge would probably be a better choice...IMHO....From what I've read, completely discharging NiMh's like conditioning does to NiCads can actually be detrimental to NiMh's....The only time NiMh's might be confused with the memory effect of NiCad is during the 1st two or tree charges when they may not last as long as they should....This is only temporary since the duration they will last gets longer & more consistant after the first few charge/discharge cycles....
