Thank you very much, mate.Wow! This lens certainly does have that limited look. Amazing flower pics mate
I am very happy with it.and the walk around the harbour certainly shows the positive attributes of this lens. Small, light, great flare control and very nice minimum focus.

Thanks, ROb. Very kind of you.It just goes to show that there is much more to lens performance than can be revealed by bench tests, such as those done by Photozone. Nice work, Lance.

Thank you very much, Irek.Very nice images, looks like the DA 15 is capable if used the right way.

Thank you very much, Phil.Uhhh, those flowers again ... I guess it's totally independent of the lens you use, Lance, you just have the knack to make them look fresh and alive. Great!

LOL. Maybe not the DA14, but possibly the DA12-24.Ok.
So after thinking about it, hard, I decided to offer meself to the adoption process of ye´old DA 14, with no charges or questions asked.
So please contact me to send me the newly orphan DA14. I´ll take care of it as if it were mine.
No questions asked, really.
--; )
Cheers!
Thank you very much, Leopold.Nice shots Lance!
Exactly!Like others said , sre it's good to see how it performs on lab test but the most important thing is how it feels to use a lens and the look of the photos that it gives you !
Oh well. Once you get it, I'm sure you'll love it.That DA15 Ltd is on my list to go with my DA35 Ltd, from what you show us and your comments it makes it even more desirable.
But i will have to wait![]()

Thank you very much, Dale. They are just a few quick pics straight after I purchased the lens to see how well it rendered.Hi Lance:
Some good examples of the rendering of this lens; the flower pics especially were well done.
I actually think the DA15 is optically better being slightly sharper and having the Limited IQ look, but it is missing the f2.8 aperture. Also the distortion is linear and does not have that slight moustache distortion of the DA14. Having said that, the DA14 is a superb lens and I am not selling it. I may sell the DA12-24, though.I sold my DA14 this summer and purchased the DA15 due to the size and haven't been disappointed. I wouldn't say that optically it is better than DA14, but he small size makes it easy to find room in the camera bag.

The only issue I have with the DA15 is that it is not f2.8 and I am having difficulty with using the Cokin ND grad filter system. I am working on this.
As you say, the great advantage of the DA15 is that it is small and light. This means that I can fit another lens in my bag without penalty.

Thank you very much, Roger.Thank you Lance for this wonderful series examplifying the qualities of the DA15, now I can' t wait for my copy to arrive ;-)
I haven't been pursuaded by the DA21, yet as I have the FA20 f2.8 and don't use that very much at all. The DA35 is a wonderful lens as it has that close focus ability.Still working on my Ltd collection, still missing the DA21 and DA35 (but I doubt I'll get that last one having the DA40 and DFA50 already). Now if Pentax would do a DA90Ltd or DA105Ltd that would be a nice addition IMO.

My pleasure. I am just glad that I can be of help. Thanks for the super-useful mini-review aof DA15 and comparision to the DA14.
I do not think that the difference of close focus is a limitation in this case as I think it is close enough. On film, my most used lens was the small SMC 24/2.8. I keep going back and forth between wanting the brighter (and closer-focusing) DA14 and the compact DA15. Looks like the decision does not get any easier after yours and PZ's results...good problem to have though.
Agreed. Bokeh really depends on background subject matter, how far from the background the actual foreground subject is, what aperture is used and the actual subject distance is as well. This is why you need to select the right lens for the right job and part of the fun of photography and why there are different lenses available.(When I saw that one image with the busy leaf background, I knew some chap would pipe up on the 'poor' bokeh of the lens. Rarely do bunches of small shiny leaves (or branches or grass) in bright produce good bokeh.
Again, agreed.(PZ's review of the DA35 has an image with similar and that lens has a reputation of poor bokeh, but that's not generally the case in my experience with the lens (nor is it expected (9 blades))).

Glad to be of help.thanks for the review, good to hear you say it does have that limited series IQ over the da14, I was very undecided between these two, but as the apeture difference doesn't bother me, only the IQ is left (ohh and size).. I am thinking of buying from adorama as it is only US$539 and with the good aussie dollar that beats crk by enough to be worthwhile...
Understandable. There is no doubt that there are some very attractive features of Nikon, Canon, Sony and Olympus, but the camera's still have to suit you. So far, the features that C, N, S and O have are not attractive enough to sway me to their brand. I love the size, ergonomics, SR, build quality, Limited lenses, lenses overall of Pentax and so I am staying put. I have often toyed with the idea of Nikon, but I like all of the above features which Nikon doesn't have.I'll have 3 lenses then.. ahh it was good to have first hand experience with some other brands (makes my choice more educated/confident), but it cost me..
