You can't beat the E-1 & RSE for ease of stellar output.

All with the boring 14-54

E-1, 14-54, 14 mm, 1/125, f/11, ISO 100

E-1, 14-54, 14 mm, 1/125, f/11, ISO 100

E-1, 14-54, 28 mm, 1/400, f/3.5, ISO 100

E-1, 14-54, 14 mm, 1/100, f/5.6, ISO 100

E-1, 14-54, 52 mm, 1/250, f/5.6, ISO 100

Adam,

These are beautiful. I fully agree that the E-1 is capable of 'as good as it gets' color.

Although I also own the E-3 and feel that its color output is equal to my E-1. They are both outstanding cameras in my book! Thanks for posting these incredible fall color images.

God Bless,
Greg

yes, glorious. I have one I seldom use but I just can't bring myself to sell it. If only they'd make an updated version with a similar sensor and ergonoms..

Thanks to all for looking.

The E-1 is dog slow, cantankerous and curmudgeonly. It's also awesome.

IMHO the E1 will live on much longer than many other DSLRs - there's something greater-than-the-sum-of-its-parts about it, that just works.

In a sea of mega-complex-configurable cameras, the bleak simplicity of the E1 rocks!!! When I had one, I never even used the screen - it was that film-like in character!

...and the 14-54 is a gem too!

Thanks for the pics and this thread - made me go all nostalgic :-)

Beautiful shots.

It would be a neat thing to see a writeup on older cameras like the E1 vs. others of like quality; similar Mp.
It is so obvious that the E1 in the right hands is still more than capable.

I would love to see evening shots or shots where the light is dim and high ISO needs to be used. Will the great color output remain the same as to when there's great available light? Nice captures by the way!

Great examples why more MP does not mean better pictures....but don't you wonder how much better those could have been if taken with the E30! :)

If I were to shoot some evening shots, I'd use my tripod and ISO 200

I predict the color would remain :)

The E-1 holds great color even at the higher ISO values. Many cameras dull up the colors at higher ISO, but not the E-1. The noise floor gets a bit rambunctious though.

Throw the new SWD lenses on it and make sure you use the battery-grip and speed is a non-issue. Dog slowness is with the original lenses and without the battery grip.

Actually I covered many sport events with the E-1 50-200 without the grip, and never had a focus speed issue.

The write time is very very slow.

Now that is very true. I have a couple cards that take the better part of a minute to flush a series of 12 RAW files with. Fortunately, the frame rate is slow enough that I don't bump up against the threshold too often and when I do, I usually just switch over to JPEG HQ.

Lovely shots and I was joking (glad you saw that). I wish I could try an E-1. As it is I will eventually upgrade to an E3 or E30.
