pocket wizard?

I use RadioPoppers JrX ... and will buy RPcube for on camera control of power
JrX is "just" as reliable as PW, "really".

Have been using them since the monday they shipped ... and have not had a misfire once, literaly. I have even tested them on a football field at aprox 130 yards. (but, I normally don't shoot that far)

The benifit of the RPcube ... to be shipped in 8 weeks, aprox.

Will be ... with a combo of JrX Transmitter , Plus JrX Recievers "Studio" Version , plus RPcube on the Flash ... will let you Control the Power level of any TTL Flash (well almost any new nikon 900 is a new one that does not work , so far)

Aug 30th thread on DPR lighting.

Many have tried the JrX ... they have SOLD out there first two shipments (Fast) ... and MANY have the same conclusions ... They "Just" Work, and Work Well. and for a Fraction of the cost of PWs. :)
  • Plus, with the addition of the RPcube you "will get" the added benifit of Controling the Power at the Transmitter / Camera ... something you could not do on PWs. * IF you buy the JrX STUDIO VERSION ...
note: ONLY buy the studio version ... don't waste your time and go cheap (it's only $20 more.

I use the Cybersyncs from Alien Bees. I use the CST on my E1 or E510 and three CSRBs on an FL50 (with a shoe adapter with a pc sync port from Flash Zebra) and two Nikon SB-80DX's. Check out http://www.alienbees.com/remotes.html for more info. It works great. Waited forever for the JrX from RadioPopper and couldn't wait any longer. Not very optimistic for the RPCube with RPs track record.

Paul,

While I totally "get it" on the wait for the RadioPopper JrX (hey, I waited for the 14-35 f2 lol), but, the JrX is here ... and it a killer product and value (buy the Studio version ONLY) ... and the RPcubes are going the change how photogs shoot with Radio. They already did it with the PX TTL radio triggers.

(fyi: I have used the Cybersyncs with AB's ... now totally RP JrX studio ... and they are not much more)

IF, they do as good of a job on the RPcubes as they did on the JrX ... it will be a totally reliable product that I will buy on the "First" shipment. Which by the way is how I "used" to feel about Olympus. Lately Olympus on there newer Tech stuff have been a bit spotty. :) ... and has made me wait for Ver. II's. or at the very least , wait for feed back here on the DPR.

Yeap! Have 4 of them, use them with my ABs or my Vivitar 285s for on location work.

Used to work with the cheapie triggers from e-bay, but Pocket Wizards ar totally worth the upgrade. NO MORE MISFIRES!

I wanted to shoot and decided to get the Cybersyncs. They work fantastic. Now that I have a setup that works, it is not as bad waiting for the whole RPCube thing to pan out. If it comes down to it, the Cybersyncs sell almost for retail on eBay and I'll upgrade to the JrX's. It would be nice to have the adjustability right from the camera and not have to jump around to each speed light.
