I know there are cameras with better reviews but when I first saw the specs on the R10 , it spoke to me and got it and have since given it to my wife after getting the CX1. I really like the camera but have kind of talked myself into wanting the CX2. The CX1 is champagne colored and I've convinced myself that I need the black version(CX2) with the 10X optical zoom. Have I gone mad or am I just being a camera aficionado. I carry it everywhere and take pictures of the strangest things, especially when remodeling and shopping. I use it for some really practical things as well as the other kind of pictures. Can anyone here kind of see where I can make the argument or do I need one? I really like the way the Ricoh camera is laid out and I know there are a lot of noise criticism from people but I can over look them. I just love the idea of having a camera with 10X optical zoom with a high resolution LCD screen which is the reason I first bought Panasonic cameras when they had 207k screens when everyone else had just half that. Please give me some I'm not being foolish comments so I can order one.

Well, foolish? No.

But i'd tend to wait for the CX3 ;-). Ricoh seems to hold to the 2 incarnations pattern, introducing s/th new first and adding the goodies to the second, possibly due to marketing or economical constraints...

They did a radical jump with the new lens (think - the old lens was there from the R1!!) , and i'd think the successor should be in the work now getting the things to finetune the X2 theme.

Personally i hope for the exmor sensor, but possibly this will have to wait for the CX4 ;-> - for that i'd pass my CX1 to family....

I'm very old fashioned, having only an R8, but like the CX1/2, it is such a nice camera to use, it's a favourite.

I'm watching CX1 prices fall as the CX2 comes on stream, then I'm upgrading at a good price!
But already looking forward to the TZ7 bashing CX4, with HD stereo video...

Yeh you have the bug - its called Ricoh itch.

No cure that the credit card can't fix.

I like the idea of a CX2 but bought a GRDIII instead - consider yourself lucky that you only have a mild version of the itch ...

My R8 went to the daughter when I bought the CX1 - have run out of daughters and am considering adopting a few (smile).

this is my problem as well

so other than a longer lens and a few small things, is there a big difference in thw cx1 and cx2?

Yea, I've got the itch, and I know I wouldn't be making much of an upgrade but I find the Ricoh format, 920,000 lcd screen, easy to use, and 10x optical zoom too much to ignore, I originally jumped on the Panasonic bandwagon when they first went to 207k lcd's. But Ricoh has it all. The 10x optical zoom in a camera that I now carry constantly is more than I can bare to pass up it seem. I accidentally put a few scuff marks on my champagne colored CX1 and now see the CX2 as something really attractive. I did give my R10 to my wife and could always get a black CX2 and keep the CX1 for backup.

Does that sound like a good idea to my esteemed colleagues or fellow ricoh junkies? How many cameras is too many, or am I talking to the wrong crowd. I imagine that there are a number of you that own several cameras, am I correct in that assumption?

Hi Keith:

It's pure addiction. I bought a GX100, GRD soon an used and then a R8. I spent 950 € in a year and a half. Now I need another camera! (GRD3, CX1, LX3, DP1???) Why? I have not discovered all the possibilities of each. By chance I put one in my bag and shot convulsively. Is this normal?

More logically take my GX100 on mountain trips and shooting landscapes and summits. GRD I take my trips to cities and businesses.
I sleep studying the camera menu. Am I crazy? No. I pay my taxes :)
