My First Wedding photos.

not bad for being your first wedding, but there is a lot that can be improve, were you doing this for fun or were you hired? if you were doing just for fun, cool, but if i was getting pay, i would definatelly start cleaning, cropping and color correcting all those images.

what lens did you use? some of those shots could had been improved if you had use something like a 50mm f1.8, like the ones where the guys are standing in front of the open messy garage, if you take em at f1.8 you would barely see or notice the messy garage and your subject (the person) would stand out more.

you also need to watch your lighting, there is a few pics were the person you were shooting had what they refer to "raccoon eyes", some had a glare on their face, etc.

don't feel bad, weddings are a lot of work and lots of stress, we've been there, just a few things to keep in mind to improve your photography.

It looks like you were right in the mix and engaged with the event, which is a positive.

I thought there were some odd exposure settings to be honest. Quite a number of shots with 1/20 to 1/60 shutter speed and focal lengths of 150mm to well over 200mm. Even with VR that's likely to make a lot of shots dicey with regard to sharpness.

I also though there were a lot of shots that looked like the on-board flash was used. That tends to make shots look point and shoot.

Did you send this link to the customer? If so I'd weed out unflattering shots, but that's just me. Shot 64 for example the subjects eyes are closed and the person behind them appears to be glaring at you.

There are also a lot of shots with distractions in them. #104 is a group shot of the men but there is person standing in the background. I also noticed parts of other people's heads in other places, etc.

Sorry not trying to be harsh. You got through the wedding and gained experience. There are some shots which if post processed a little more will be pretty nice. #100 for example will improve greatly if you crop out some on the right to even out the shot and center the subjects.

I would recommend going to the audio2u.com web site and downloading the Shutters Inc podcasts 104 through 108 where Shelton Muller discusses wedding photography. A lot of great essentials in there from a very experienced wedding photographer.

It was my friend wedding that I was in. I took pictures for fun and was hoping to learn to get myself being a good photographer someday. Thanks for the C & C, really needed if I need to improve myself.

Thank you. Yes I was doing it for fun just some extra takes. My friend has a professional photographer but I still brought my camera along for the ride. Thanks for the info. Much appreciated.
