Hello Pentaxians

I've noticed that a careful eye and a penchant for traveling the rarely-beaten path can lead to discoveries of our past long forgotten and of lives that have been lived and ended, perhaps without the fanfare or notice they deserved. The life I'm talking about isn't just human but the lives of structures, machinery, equipment, and tools. Human waste isn't always pretty, but it always leaves a record of the past behind for study. Hello Cynthia!

Thank you for your comments - I love taking pictures of stuff that people have forgotten about, abandoned, or just sort of left to its' own devicesr. My processing is done with Lightroom and Photoshop 7 and is of my own 'style' if you will (which essentially means a whole variety of different looks - very dependent on the mood and the subject). As you can see I do very little 'straight' color.

I enjoy these kind of photos, the colors and the detail. The only thing I feel like I need sunglasses, to my eyes some photos look too bright, or overexposed. Did you do that on purpose? Maybe it's my monitor..but there are some areas with bright reflections that killed the detail. Otherwise I like your style, very artistic. Thanks for posting.

Great pictures! Good portrayal of what things become, rather than what they are made to be. I like the PP style as well, brining out contrast, grit and texture.

The bright look is definitely part of the processing - the look of #1 (probably the worst offender) is purposeful. Unfortunately it tends to be the result of squeezing DR out of the shot sometimes. You are right though, I certainly don't aim for straight realism. Thank you for the comments Jacob!

Thank ya ife - nostalgia/mood/character/surrealism/grit is the name of my game ... or at least that is the direction I'm driving, if that makes sense.

Thank you godfrog - I do enjoy thinking about how long things have sat in one place umoved for decades at a time. Both this shack and car were full of the old 'spirit' of the people they once served - including books, a bed, cookware, cabinetry, etc. in the shack.
