Sony support and garanty on discontinued models

Hi all!

There are very few DSC-S75 left in the shops available to buy, and I think the price is quite interesting.

But as we all know by now, the DSC-S75 is a "discontinued model", and I was wondering what would happen if I would have a problem with the camera.
Does Sony still support this model?

What is the point to have a 1 or 2 years garanty if it cannot be repaired or replaced?
Any thougts would be very welcome.

Thanks a lot for your reply. Unfortunately I do not live in the US but in Spain.

I contacted sony Spain by e-mail on the 24/08/2002 (I'll put here the e-mail I sent them) and did not get any reply at all !!!

I have to say I am not getting a good impresion of Sony services ...

Still no reply from Sony ... I tried to call their customer support today but I didn't get to talk to anybody ....

Is it because I am not a "Sony customer" "yet" or will it be the same if I become one ?

Sepi I have the same camera and I spoke to Sony and they said even though its discontinued the full warranty is still valid.

Sony will supply parts and service for a minimum of 3 years after a device goes out of production. If it was a popular item then it is usually 5 years. After this support ends you can still get parts until they run out. According to a service rep I talked to, the S75 service should be available for another 30+ months from now. Maybe longer.
