Why 8 sec shutter only?

Still can't imagine myself keeping my finger for 5 minuts on the shutter. With remote at least I could use at the same time my binoculars or a can of beer(definitely non Nikon) kept in my second hand.

And one more:
One of the cons at Phil's review both for 4500 and 5700:
Maximum 8 second camera timed long exposure (Bulb offers up to 5 minutes)
Is he wrong?

2. 5 min in bulb reqiures remote. Why do they want us to spend more
money on them?
It does not require the remote. It is merely recommended in order
to reduce the possibility of camera shake.

Keep in mind that the remote has a problem with TIFF files. If it is a TIFF file you will be recording, the remote 'breaks' it. So not only does it cost extra, it does not perform as designed.

Phil is probably not wrong. I just don't have any need for the feature show it's no disadvantage for me.

Alex,

I do not know anything about astrophotography, but I just stumbled onto a site which MIGHT be of help to you.

Hope it helps,

Thanks for pointing that out. But I am already aware of this. Not planning to use TIFF's.

That's why it would be much nicer to have in SP mode more than 8 sec options. MC-EU1 is a bad device. Not quiet copmatibile with 4500 and very limited time lapse features (minimum 2 minutes interval makes me laugh - good for shooting children growing up)

Are you always so sarcastic Togal?

Because if you keep this kind of attitude in this useful forum I wonder how you find people to answer your questions.

I don't know what the others think but the way you are expressing is annoying to me...

Do you call this useful reply? Not for anybody!
