Movie Mode Problems with Fuji S602

I have a Fuji S602 with a ScanDisk 128MB Type 1 Compact Flash Card, When I try to record a movie in VGA Mode the movie will record for approximatley 8 sec. and then pause with "storing" storing on the LCD and then stop recording. In QVGA I can record the length of the card about 4 to 6 mins and try to play it back and I get "read error". Is this because the card does not have a fast enough read and write rate or a bad camera or what? I can use the included 16mb smart media card and record and play back VGA and QVGA movies. Only 15 secs. and 25 - 30 secs. respectively because of the limited memory on the card.

Has anyone ever had this problem.

Thanks for your Time
Tom

So what was the problem? just curious, and you might be able to help others by letting us know.

As Thomas has no doubt found out now.. from the other threads,

You need a very fast CF card to be able to write the data fast enough for the VGA video, many CF cards simply cannot write fast enough and the busy icon will appear. You should be able to use the smaller QVGA video mode however without any problems with almost any CF card.

SM card are generally faster than CF and have no problems handling the VGA video mode, likewise the IBM micro-drive works okay too.

First, you need to use Type II CF card; e.g. IBM MD.
Second, any non-MD card needs to be (according to Fuji) > = 16x burst speed.

It has been posted that CFII is just fat CFI. However, there is CFI+ and
CFII+, with different.. abilities!?

Really? Where did you read this? A 20x (sustained write 3mb/s) Ridata owner
said his card was only good for 63s. However a 20x Ritek owner (should
be exactly the same card) said his WAS fast enough.

It's all very confusing.

Tom.

I had the same problem with my ultra 256 Type 1 card. When I inserted the card I went into the setup and chaged the media type from Smart Media to CF figuring this was the proper thing to do.When I switched back to Smart Media my problem was solved..Apparently the "CF" designation is for Microdrive cards only and the Smart media handles both Smart Media and CF cards..All I know is that it works great now.
