. . . If it was just simply a mistake, then you'll probably just get an "it was a mistake" message.. . . snip
So why was I banned … well, honestly, I just don’t know (though I would like to know the reason). I know the software/cracks thing was nothing but a huge mistake on DPR’s part. Perhaps I was banned for something other than software/cracks and somehow DPR made a mistake in the e-mail they sent to inform me of the ban.
. . . What if the reasons for this banning center around some issues within DPR? They've gone through some tremendous changes organizationally during the past year. If I was them, I'd hesiitate to publicly air these issues and would want a quiet, internal solution without a lot of analysis from outside the organization.Anyway, hopefully DPR will provide some explanation (I’m assuming they will eventually inform me via e-mail that the ban has been lifted). If DPR does not send the expected e-mail then I plan to “somehow” contact Andy Westlake to gain an understanding of what actually happened; it’s important to gain that understanding for a couple of reasons … first, I’m curious (and basically a nosey person) and second, if I was banned for a reason other than software/cracks then I’d like to work towards improving on whatever it was that I did wrong.
So, if I get a response from DPR soon, or in the near future obtain additional information from Andy (assuming I can actually somehow get in touch with him AND am allowed to pass along his comments to the membership) then I’ll reply to this post and let everybody know the “how and the why.” Who knows, maybe we can all benefit from my experience.
. . . I know that problems where I work are never aired in public unless there's a compelling legal/ethical reason to do so. At this point, DPR has reversed itself which has to be a little embarrasssing and that should be enough. They'll probably learn why this happened on their own and take some measures to improve the moderating from here on out . . . at least, that's what I'd hope for.
