I have read all the recent posts and was touched (and very flattered) by the outpouring of support for my situation. Clearly if forum members had not acted together and shown their strong support I would have remained banned (permanently no less).

So once again, everybody, thank you VERY much!

Also, rest assured your support has meant a lot to me, not because the ban was eventually lifted but because so many forum members stated their appreciation for my contributions to the forum. I certainly don’t claim to have been a perfect forum contributor but for the most part have tried very hard to be helpful to the membership.

So why was I banned … well, honestly, I just don’t know (though I would like to know the reason). I know the software/cracks thing was nothing but a huge mistake on DPR’s part. Perhaps I was banned for something other than software/cracks and somehow DPR made a mistake in the e-mail they sent to inform me of the ban.

Anyway, hopefully DPR will provide some explanation (I’m assuming they will eventually inform me via e-mail that the ban has been lifted). If DPR does not send the expected e-mail then I plan to “somehow” contact Andy Westlake to gain an understanding of what actually happened; it’s important to gain that understanding for a couple of reasons … first, I’m curious (and basically a nosey person) and second, if I was banned for a reason other than software/cracks then I’d like to work towards improving on whatever it was that I did wrong.

So, if I get a response from DPR soon, or in the near future obtain additional information from Andy (assuming I can actually somehow get in touch with him AND am allowed to pass along his comments to the membership) then I’ll reply to this post and let everybody know the “how and the why.” Who knows, maybe we can all benefit from my experience.

Best regards,

Joe Kurkjian

I agree Joe. If you don't know what you did that got you banned, how can you avoid it in the future. Unless the whole thing was a total mistake in every way on dpreviews part. Any welcome back again. I have only been here two years but even I know that you are an important fixture here & I have enjoyed your post. Bab

Welcome back, JAK. I am happy DPR lifted the ban against you. They should not have imposed the ban in the firt place. I am still waiting for their explanation on the move against you, of all posters. Man, they should say sorry to you. Anyway, lets move on and I hope you will continue to give us your photo knowledge and advises.

Cheers,

Glad to ahve you back. Don't want to lose one of the better contributors on the forum. So... where are your 7D OOF cat pics with high noise at ISO400?

The only time a smaller sensor with the same pixel count is superior to a larger sensor (aka higher pixel density) is when you are focal-length limited.

surprised to note you were banned as I've read your posts over some years now and have never noticed anything in your contribution other than factual views. Look forward to reading more, perhaps it was the SP?

The prodigal son returns ;-) Joe, it's really good to have to you back. I've found your contributions over the years enlightening and truthful. If you have those 7D photos, do share.

My best as always.
