Here are a few snapshots from the s90 that I picked up this morning. The hand/neck strap was missing from the box so the camera was held very carefully. I'm picking one up at Best Buy tomorrow.

My schedule is such that I've both taken and processed these images quickly. Believe me, the shots were taken quickly!

I did VERY little post processing, limited to resizing, mild levels and sharpening IF needed.

I think I'm going to like this camera but we need to get to know each other better. :)

iso 400

iso 3200

iso 200

iso 100

iso 80

A couple more test shots here:

I agree, those look a lot better than I expected. Nice to see some real photos out of these things!

Mmmm they do look good !!

Seems they really have the Chroma noise ,under control.

Your pictures look very good. Your little model also. Tried a little pp on the portrait. Found it easy to pp. The few shots that look like 28mm look very sharp. I'm really tempted by this camera. Thanks a lot for posting.

hi there

i don't know much about after prossessing but a stunning difference from already a nice orgiinal beauty!
any comments how you achieved that or what type software you have used?
realy like the brightnes in her eyes!
thanks

Glad you like my edit. I'm really not an expert retoucher. I don't even consider myself very good at it. As I mentioned in my post the file was easy to pp. I use the outdated PhotoshopElements6 software. For this edit I only used the very basic tools that PSE6 offers.

I also like how sharp the eyes are. But it was there already. I only applied a very small amout of sharpness to the overall image.

Many Best Buy stores around the country are selling them anyway. Ours in the Seattle area won't sell until Sunday. You can still pre-order and reserve one, but that's it.

From my point of view those were great shots! I think the S90 is going to be a great P&S carry around camera.

However, obviously none of the PP whiners have seen your samples yet. When they do they'll be caterwalling about how "noisy", PF, CA etc. If any camera company ever makes the "perfect" small carry-around with pocketability, they will still find something to carp & whine about. That's their nature.

I have ordered the S90 from Amazon. I'm Hopeful I'll get it soon. When I do I'll post a few hi ISO shots etc.

Don't let the PP B*st* ds get you down. It's going to be a huge seller!

Thanks for posting Gail, Those are some of the best S90 shots I have seen so far, could be the cute model helps.
Thanks. She is a cutie but never sits still. That's why there was a slight blur but I was pleased with the eyes despite the shot taken at ISO 400 in contrasty light.

The ISO 3200 isn't bad compared to many other compact digital cameras I've owned, including Pany FZxx, TZx and several Canons. I'd make every effort not to use IS0 3200 but, would as a last resort.

You're welcome. Nice job on the pp. On that shot, I actually did some mild sharpening on the eyes only. I didn't sharpen any of the images much at all. I wanted others to see how sharp the lens is and, imho, the exposure.

I agree. I've been participating in these forums for about eight years and have learned some of the different tunes others dance to. I've waited patiently for a small, compact with decent high ISO performance, and I think this may be it. I honestly do not expect is to be as good as a DSLR, or even be as spontaneous as one.

As an aside, I owned a Fujifilm F20 and while it very did well at high ISO, the camera itself put me sound sleep.

In the final analysis, other than snapshots, I'd rather take a photo that is artistically pleasing than technically perfect.
