Your test is a little difficult because I would expect that the lens would start to fall into different categories at the 11 x 14 level of prints.

That's very true, but I kept it simple for the practical sense (from my perspective).

Magnifying the knob didn't help :) so I actually had to do a little test here. I didn't get that big a difference in the sharpness between 70-300 and 40-150 as you did, but there was a difference.
This is my guess.
70-300mm
40-150mm
35-100mm

I'm going to say, somewhat optimistically (from my standpoint):

35-100
40-150
70-300

When should I reveal the results? Give a few some more time to guess? It's pretty interesting isn't it? I really wanted to show a real life result if your needs don't exceed a specific need. Here was just a demonstration of someone who/if shoots at 100mm at f/5.6 anyway.

Difficult.
This would have been easier at F2.0... LOL

I would like to be able to magnify these images.

The reflection in the doorknob seems a bit clearer and more detailed in the last one.

Also the colour of the door is not as white, there is a bit more toning in it and from my experience I have seen that too in a shoot-out between ZD50-200 and ZD 35-100 at 100mm : for sharpness those two were just about equal, but the ZD35-100 had the nicer toning/contrast/resolving power.

So my guess is that the ZD35-100 is the last one.
I don't know about the others.

That room is a mess! You make me proud. Perhaps the view is distorted by the door knobs though.

Last one is the 35-100. Flip a coin for the other two.

I haven't read any replies yet but I'm guessing the Top is the 40-150mm. It's definitely a little inferior with the sharpness.

I think the middle is probably the 35-100; It's my favorite and I've heard good things about that lens.

I think the last one is the 70-300; it seems to be very good as well. It's only slightly less sharp than the one above it.
