of the local paper. It is not one of my best shots but the editor was quite impressed with the content of the photo. I am on cloud nine at the moment! I would post the link but pbase is not working for me.....the photo is the shot with 4 bolts of lightning.

Sandman,

The photo is in my inbox with my other lightning shots. It is the one with 4 bolts. I don't know what is wrong I can't get pbase to work for me....no photos are loading from anyone.

Did they give you credit? Same thing happened to me recently, but the plonkers simply grabbed the photo off of my Carnival website, removed my spiceisle.com logo, then plastered the result across their front page, with no credit given to the source!

Yes they did. I made it a point to ask if they were purchasing the photo and if I would be given credit for the shot. My name was mentioned twice in the caption. The editor also made it a point to add on the end, in bold print, that the photo was taken by myself.

Congratulations Shanley. Saw the photo in a previous post and that it was great. Did they do much editing to the original?

I knew that photo was a 'winner' when I saw it. It is excellent. I'm so excited for you! Keep it up, mister. I could NEVER be patient or fast enough to take a shot like that!

Best regards, ;)

Not at the initial meeting....did a little usm, curves, convert to greyscale. He said he would not do much more editing that what he did while I was there. It looks pretty close to the original, although the greyscale does not do it much justice.

It's not a matter of being fast at 16 seconds (laughs). The hard part is finding a spot AWAY from the lightning but still close enough to get some detail. I keep my eye on the weather all the time so I can chase the next storm.

Congratulations and especially glad you got credited for the photo.
Keep up the good work.

This week, a weekly newspaper used a small photo I'd taken of my costume character (sort of a self portrait) announcing an upcoming event. It really is a thrill to be published.

Well, I don't think I should quit my day job yet. But, I sure would be humbled if someone called the house wanting a print.
