7D, 40D owners

My head shot was ISO 400. I will try to get out of doors tomorrow & take some at lower ISO. I didn't get out today until late afternoon & we live on a wooded lot so it requires a little higher ISO speed. I'll see if I get a chance to walk to the lakefront tomorrow or run over to see my smaller grandchildren on their new swing set. Bab

My interest in the camera lies in its supposedly better AF tracking. Do I need a larger HDD filling image file? Not really. I hope for a slight improvemnt in the high ISO noise. I say slight because I'm keeping my expectations realistic given its an 18mp camera.

I think that's good enough for many people. I have a number of camcorders but none are HD. I might pick up a Canon HD down the road. I'm not buying a 7D for its video but from what I have seen the results are very good AND the ability to shoot video with a variety of Canon lenses for nice DOF look.

Maybe you just need something to get you excited again ;-) If say you were to travel to a vacation spot you've always wanted to visit........... I say this good naturedly.

I have 5 PCs so I don't need more . I have several versions of PS , latest CS3, so I don't need more.

I am using a Pentium 4, 2ghz on 1......ONE......gb of RAM. I cannot add more than 1gb of RAM as the motherboard won't allow it. It's a Dell and not very upgradeable. In my case, I am due for an upgrade

I also own the 40D. Have you tryed out the higher ISO performance on the 7D?Want to know what you think. 3200-6400 ISO. Have seen some really bad sampels online. I hve someone who wnts to buy my 40D, but not sure if it is the smartest move.

Yes the 7D has some good features but dont discount the 40d. I have a 1DMKIII and a 40D and I can honestly say the 40D still takes excellent images. I use the 40D in the studio more, if I posted a 40D piture on this forum saying it was a 7D image who would really know the difference.

I think the 7D looks much better at 3200. I've seen zero evidence of the pattern noise that's bedeviled every Canon dSLR I've owned previously.

You cant relly tell what noise is like in a B and W shot, it may be a good way to hide noise, I'll give you that
