( y one shud not ask for help on the internet), imo this was one of the most cretinous filth ridden threads i have ever seen, with use of the f word, and sexual images, one of the posters names was also one the most filthy sex/swear words in use, now believe me i am a rough old boy and i guess you could say i have been there done that, but i would never swear in front of a woman or dream of posting anything like this, so for the first time ever and i hope the last time i need to i asked the moderator to investigate this thread, guess what!! nil response! that nasty thread is still there, what do you think?? slim

As a Dutchman, I like the American directness, politeness, and positivism. I also like the British sense of humor and understatement, more than the American use of overstatement.

Indirect or direct communication doesn't matter, as long as it is based on mutual respect.

Why do grown up people with lots of brains like DPReview members and moderators care about applying narrow borders of communication or prudishness? I don't understand a d@mn of that.

When this word with the @ is exceeding the limits for the majority of members / moderators, they shoudl bann me. If they don't, they are hypocrite, because the intended and communicated message is the same.

Respect is not shown by rude comments, but neither by giving comments that are stated friendly but insincere. Why not giving each other room to differ ... ?

I have been there, done that....lol. You are not alone my friend, you are not alone.

Just like I told JYD a few weeks ago, take a week and revisit time with your wife. Take her to a movie and just enjoy your time away from here for awhile. God knows we spend too much time here anyway, right?? LOL

I am appalled that others in this nice forum, the best on this site as far as I am concerned would do this. Whoever did this, I don't even want to know because I don't talk to people who have others innocently banned for speaking their mind and I bet that person will never come forward because they are ashamed of themselves and they should be if they are not.

Look what happened about a month or so ago when another member was banned. What is going on in this forum that we would turn against our own???

I don't usually speak out like this because I am a quiet person who lost her mother last week, but like I said this is the second time in a few months that this has happened recently. More than likely it was the same person who complained about Sal.

That won't happned because I once asked Amazon if they really own DPR and DPR says Amazon does own them so I don't know who owns whom.

Sal wanted me to say the same Gary, so threading this under yours. Still getting more then a little perturbed about all the temp bans of late. To top all that, regulars like Kent don't post near as often anymore either. We are going from 50 new threads a day down to 10. A shame our little space here at DPRs dying a slow death. I think we need to have a bring back option for those that get banned in that if you get more then a few request for re-instatement, that, unless the retort from the banned has something to do with killing someone, that that person gets immediately re-instated. Wouldn't have to have such a feature if getting banned wasn't so easy. :)

I'm new here to the Retouching Forum, but not to DPreview. I haven't yet gotten to know everyone, but It seems to be a pretty good bunch of people. I looked over Sal's recent posts and can find no good reason for the ban.

The biggest complaint I have about the ban process is that no one except for the moderators know exactly what the cause of the ban was, not even the person being banned. All you get is an email that states you have been banned and some generic reason like "Flaming / Trolling / Abuse." Not very useful in my opinion. As I understand it, a permanent ban comes exactly the same way. No reasons or explanation or a process to become reinstated.

I managed to get myself banned once and I really don't know exactly what caused it other that I was apparently guilty of "Flaming / Trolling / Abuse"

Sal, look at is as a 7 day vacation from this place and come back refreshed. And, what ever you did to get banned, just don't do it again, whatever it was.

In my opinion, I think most of the complainers who get people banned are cowards, in that they hide in the shadows of anonymity and never come forward to explain their decision to ask to have that person banned. I'm sure this is the case in this instance, in that most of us know who that person is.

I give JClaude credit for acknowledging the fact that he had me banned a month ago. Although I will dislike this person for life, at least he came forward and admitted his indiscretion.

...I had a look at some of Sals recent posts and cannot find adequate reason for his being banned!!!!!. This is incredible. I dont get involved in the politics in here but this is unreasonable. There seems to be an unreasonable amount of sensitivity by some in this forum. But even more amazing to me is the fact that the moderators banned on that basis!!!!. I do not believe it!!!
