Why is D90 price dropping like a rock

They will add autofocusing ability to the D90 video, to compete with the Canon T1 and 7D models. So my guess is that while it may not hit before Xmas this year, a D90 replacement with this upgrade is on the horizon.

The retailers known something we don't or course. Hold off and you may get a new one at refurb prices in a couple of weeks. Don't buy now, Joe... you might be able to get it at 695 by Thanksgiving.

Now it is just $1275.

Its not a hint of anything coming, not some hint at a D9Million.

Peanut butter is on special too, its $2.15 for extra crunchy, which is a saving of almost 60cents. MMMMmmm ...maybe Xtra-Xtra Crunchy is soon to be released.

Hi from Canada. It seems the D90 has not changed much in price in Canada over the past year. It is still hovering at around CAD $1300 for the D90 + 18-105 kit. That's what I see at Future Shop, Best Buy, Black's, and Henry's and what I paid a year ago. Peter
 
It fell further, in case you didn't notice. Thank you for this thread, I would have missed that - I just bought mine a couple of days ago for 870, and yesterday I just got the difference back to 815 (the new price).

Incidentally, a quick good word for B&H. There is a reason these guys are the standard by which other vendors are judged. Yesterday I called, spoke to a guy in camera sales (right away, not after 20 min on hold), gave my order number, and poof, refund to my card. Took about 90 seconds. No paper to fill out, no wait period, no double-checking, nothing. Yep, that's why I only shop there.

I have absolutely no affiliation with the store, just figured we are so quick to post any negative experience it would be right to post a positive one sometime.

The big drop in USA prices puts the D90/18-105 kit price in line with Canadian prices.
At B&H today, the kit is $1200 US, which at today's exchange rate is $1300 CDN.
The kit is a bit cheaper at Royal Photo in Montreal, at $1270 CDN.

Long shot, but it could be because BH is not taking orders so much these days that they're afraid of losing market share to Adorama.

I just finished a two month long major upgrade of my gear ended up buying all the bodies and lenses from Adorama because BH was not taking orders when I got the wild hair to buy.

I never bought from Adorama before, but I've found them to be very good.
 
Glad I helped someone here get a better price on D90. I too got a refund from B & H on the 15th and last day of their refund policy.

Had I known it would drop so fast, I would have waited to buy. But I have it now and I am happy with it.

I also did manage to snag a Nikon 35mm 1.8 Lens while checking B & H website last week before they were sold out again.

Joemama was an old nickname of mine....LOL
 
If you have a good camera you are happy with then scrap the price drop worries.

Realize that saving money only to risk ending up with a lemon or some other defect is how I kill those price drop thoughts.

You know being patient before inventory is gone is the best way to save your gold.
That is how I picked up a P6000.

I've been considering a D90, but don't need it.

Not sure that's it. As far as I know, they have a policy of matching each other's prices, so it would not do anything. And isn't Adorama observing the same holidays?
 
I don't know their reputation, but that is cheap!

Wonder about the D90 replacement.
