"Aura" camera for four thousand bucks

They actually tell you they've modified the camera to create the effect and are careful to call it an "aura emulation" camera.

I'm sure there are New Age hucksters who'd pay the price for such a useful "diagnostic" tool. A few paid aura analysis and therapy sessions would quickly pay back the cost. More colorful than an e-meter!

Given the clientle, selling 'em as emulations wouldn't affect sales at all.
Yep, funny, thanks for sharing !

That is too funny! I want to ask them whether they actually are referring to US dollars, but would rather avoid any potential contamination.

Matt ...thats a ripper, just plopped a link in the fuji SLR forum.

Do you think they would accept cuttlefish and cockel shells and some nice bits of string in place of Dollars ...???

Yeah. Well that's nothing. If only I had $4.99 (per message, good luck unsubscribing!) and the brains of an dung beattle, I too could have a mobile phone application that lets me see through clothes! They keep telling me so if I'm up past midnight and have free to air TV on. Oh and I've got so many offers to help out rich widows and wealthy businessmen in Nigeria coming through my mailbox, that I'm sure I'll be able to retire in a week or so. Oh look someone's trying to sell me the Golden Gate bridge. Excellent. I'll be able to afford that now with my new found Nigerian wealth!

I could get results like that with East German Orwo colour film and an out of focus Zenit B with a broken meter 35 years ago. So much for progress.......

it seems like it's marketed towards people wanting to make money out of it, by selling pictures made through it at fairs etc.

i reckon it might work, but you're looking at taking several hundred photos before it even pays for itself, so hmmmmm.

i'd rather mimic the effect in lightroom...

[although it might even be hard in lightroom to butcher a photo to that degree!]

They actually tell you they've modified the camera to create the effect and are careful to call it an "aura emulation" camera.
The description mentions a "camera modified with special electronics and fiber optics to produce colorful aura photographs". I'm guessing that they use some coloured LEDs and the fibre-optics to deliberately fog the image with coloured light.

By the way, this has nothing whatsoever to do with Kirlian photography which involves placing the subject and sensitive material in a high-voltage electrical field.

Peter

Matt ...what do you think would be Fuji's reaction to this use of their camera. The intrinsic ownership of these cameras still belong to Fuji ....unless they have authroized this use.

This looks like some device that may have emmanated from the scatalogical imagination of the late Mr Frank Zappa as used by the 'Church of Appliantology' in
'Joes Garage'.

I won't commit myself until I read an objective review.
How does it compare in high ISO to the X1 ?
