I bought a new D90 a few weeks ago and am noticing that it's price has really dropped. Today at B & H, it's $830. $20 cheaper than it was yesterday.

Last week, it was 875. I did get a price match once, but I am out of the 15 day period at B & H. what the heck!

The D90s is coming ofcourse :P

But you're crying over pennies over the lifetime of your camera. The best advice I can give you is to stop checking the price. It's unfortunately what happens with consumer goods. I can pretty much guarantee that this trend will not occur with lenses or flashes. Enjoy your camera and don't let Nikon's or B&H's marketing gimmicks get to you.

Oh, my gosh- you are breaking the cardinal rule of not looking at the price of your junk after you bought it! Shame-shame-shame! Please don't torture yourself like that. Guaranteed unhappiness! :|

. . . shoot like there's no film in the thing!

Yup. $829 at Adorama, free shipping, and no tax for me out here in sunny California.

If it keeps dropping at that rate for 10 more weeks, you'll be able to buy another one... Heck, I'm thinking of picking one up instead of waiting for the D90s or doing the she-loves-me-she-loves-me-not game for the D300s.

Well hey I paid $1,100 for a D70 years ago - how much do you think it is worth now? $300 maybe? ;-)

I feel your pain man... I just bought a new car last year, prices for that model and year have dropped like a rock too! Geez if I only waited...

Sheesh...

Goodness I hope some of these are not true. Apparently there is an 85mm VR DX with 14 elements when the current 85mm's don't even exceed ten. I can't imagine VR requires five more elements. Plus it's rated at f/3.5. So it's f/3.5 and DX with VR, which makes this lens utterly useless except for daylight photos and flash. Yikes... doesn't that defeat the purpose of a prime?
Rumor mill........D90s at bottom of page..

I hear Saturn prices are about to get really sweet... Hopefully not what's happening to Nikon. ;)

D90 prices are dropping because I bought one last month. ;) Honestly, that's the story of my life with every piece of electronics I buy -- either the price drops or a new version hits the street. Best advice: buy when the time is right for YOU, then enjoy. Don't make yourself crazy. It's a fact of modern life that popular electronics will go down in price more often than not.

BTW, Amazon will sometimes price-adjust after the sale although their official policy is not to do so. I'm a big fan of Amazon because of the customer service experiences I've had there.

Not really complaining about price. I am enjoying my new camera. I just wondered what is up. and if there is a new model coming out real soon. no big deal. Just an obsvervation. I waited and waited and saw a reasonable price and got it then the bottom fell out.....I am cool with it though.
thanks

Hey soon I might be able pick up a lightly used one for $550. Now that's a deal!--

Or ... how about Best Buy with their recent pricing - NEW D200- $599. If they do the same with new D90's they should cost about $399. I won't hold my breath although I now have two D200s.

Best wishes,
Richard

B&H also lowered the D5000 body all the way down to $634

That is quite a drop too. That certainly makes the D5000 a much better deal too.

I do not believe this means a D90s is coming. The D90 is only a year old, it is selling very well and I really don't know what features they would add to the camera for an 's' version, given that the D5000, D300s and rumoured D700s and D3 replacements are likely to add video as a major new feature. I'd take the D300 metering system, the D300 in body motor and the D300 focus system. I'd upgrade to that, but then why buy a D300s at that point.

I think we have at least another year with the D90, which is fine, as it's a great camera.

Nikon may very well simply be trying to retain market share and trying to keep volumes as high as possible by reducing their margins. Not a bad approach given their falling market share and Canon coming on strong.

They will add autofocusing ability to the D90 video, to compete with the Canon T1 and 7D models. So my guess is that while it may not hit before Xmas this year, a D90 replacement with this upgrade is on the horizon.

Thats nasty, dont look prices after you buy something :(

But maybe it helps you if I tell than when I buyed TV last year 1799€ and next week it was 1559€ and I wasnt even had payed it yet :D

The economy still has not recovered and x-mas is right around the corner. Santa has a limited budget and everyone wants a DSLR for x-mas.

AF for video is that comes to mind right away.
