here is the picture of my wife and daughter.
The challenge is to highlight the faces and remove any distortions.
Thanks.

 
maybe he meant straightening the teeth or do some "cosmetic" touches? try to do all and see the result? i am not near a photoshop machine so i cannot... or maybe close the babys mouth a little??

Hey Sal, you might be right !!!. If your not near your machine, you must be playing golf hey ? lol

HI C Roske,

the distortions are the strong pink dress of my wife and also the bright white+blue cloth under the baby.
I feel these clothes are stealing the show rather than the faces :(

not really the cosmetic surgery, but I'm just trying to bring focus to the faces.
I want them "standup" in the image
 
a read the OP reply to you at the beginning and I realized that when he was describing the dress and the cloth that he meant DDISTRACTIONS not DISTORTIONS.... so I see that it must have been a misunderstanding based on linguistic variations... Oh, well, english is far from my mothers tong as well !!! Ciao and BTW i did like what you achieved in your retouch !!!

Please dont take it as a offense but I think you should have said DISTRACTIONS not DISTORTIONS... The strong pink dress and the cloth were taking focus away from the baby and that meant DISTRACTING... Distortion means when something is in a wrong shape or form or is out of form.. While Distortions can also be distractions in this pic was no distortions that is why people were not sure what type of distortions you saw and kept asking questions... :D Be well and Ciao ! Glad you like it. From memory, first I adjusted curves to brighten the picture. Then color tweaked red and yellow channels. And to finish some shadows/highlights.
