G11 good frog camera, but frogs gone now

This one can't see Russia. Wasn't taken with a G11 though, just a lowly G7 a couple days ago. His/her name is Teddy. Teddy the tree frog. Teddy doesn't consider himself/herself as a southern frog, being a Wisconsin native. Teddy doesn't even speak Russian.

I jumped to the same conclusion. I think that this camera will be very popular amongst those who photograph our anuran friends, and it will go off like a frog in a sock. I was surprised your thread spawned so many responses.

Although I had a G9 (until my girlfriend accidentally dropped it off a cliff) I thought that particular camera tried to cram too many pixels into the sensor and the images suffered as a result. I look forward to a more sensible pixel count, a swivelling screen and frog season. Of course I have to buy a G10 first.. And maybe a small slave flash..

What you need is a cat like mine that brings me all the frogs she can find (21 so far this year) and doesn't hurt them. Then you could save them in the bath until the S90 arrives!

From all that I read, the g11 is probably the best frog camera that any camera company has ever created.
..........great, now I don't have to buy a 1DsMkIII...........

Don't see too many frogs here in Phoenix, but I do see quite a few scorpions living close a mountain preserve. Some bark scorpions even find their way into my living room by crawling under the front door. A live scorpion would certainly make a good test of the G11's macro capability, before I stomp on it with my shoe.

The trick is taking the photo before the scorpion senses I'm there and tries to scurry off. They're quick. And you don't want to get too close to one or risk being stung. I've been stung a couple times by bark scorpions. Not a pleasant experience. Much worse than a bee sting.

Well, besides my G10, I've got a Ds MIII, a 5d2 (currently broken down) and a 5d. If, for some reason, I were forced to keep but one of these cameras, it would be a tougher decision than one might think, because I would want to keep the G10.

But, I would probably sigh, groan, and keep the Ds III, just because, when it comes to making a living, it is the best of the lot.

When it comes to having fun and just shooting willy-nilly everything around me, I like the G10 best.

I am really irritated that you forced me to address this question.

Those scorpions down there are tiny compared to what I saw in India.

But I think the horny toad is the better equivalent to a frog.

Plus, I have seen frogs living in pools along streams coming down into the desert not far from Phoenix, so maybe, if you look in the right place, you can find some in Phoenix, too.
